They say “Go big or go home” and the Los Angeles Rams apparently did just that prior to making the deal to acquire Detroit Lions QB Matt Stafford over the weekend.
According to Los Angeles Times reporter Sam Farmer, the Rams decided to inquire about Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who given his reaction after their playoff loss to the Buccaneers – and the fact the Packers have rookie Jordan Love behind him – it seemed an opening might be there to get him.
Unfortunately, the Packers reportedly shut that right down.
“They wanted to upgrade from Jared Goff,” said Farmer during an appearance on NFL Network. “They felt like there were a certain number of quarterbacks who could do that. I think DeShaun Watson was out of their price range.”

It must be a West Coast thing. The 49ers did the same thing when head coach Kyle Shanahan reportedly called Bill Belichick and inquired about Tom Brady prior to his eventual trade for Jimmy Garoppolo.
The fact Green Bay didn’t entertain it obviously proves they’re not yet ready to give up on Rodgers. At the same time, anyone in New England hoping to see Rodgers end up in a Patriots uniform, it’s safe to say they’re probably disappointed.
