Eh. Historically, the NFL utterly ignores this sort of thing when it happens in college.

I know I’m overly optimistic and probably dumb, but this guy was being talked about as a top ten pick a year and a half ago. Here are the first three mocks I just found from about a year and a half ago and they all had him in the top ten picks of the first round.






He had an ankle surgery, then a set back and another surgery after the 2021 season. Then he butted heads with a new coaching staff leading up to and including the 2022 season while claiming that his ankle was not yet feeling ok. A year ago he ran slow at the combine, but he said he had not been training because he was letting his ankle rest.

There’s no doubt he has maturity issues, but I’m still hoping that there is untapped talent and potential there. He’s still young and stupid, but if he could just develop into a solid #2 receiver that would be a big win for our team.

The devil’s in the details I suppose. Let’s wait and see what comes from the investigation. That’s what the Pats and NFL are going to do.

No one should rush to any conclusions until the actual facts come out from the authorities…not just what some local beat reporter gets wind of and puts on paper to make a name for himself.

While I agree we need to wait and see Boutte's side of the story, we are just a wee bit past the point of this being something "some local beat reporter gets wind of and puts on paper to make a name for himself." The arrest warrant specifically mentions their investigation methods and that he was betting on LSU games in which he participated.
