I'm sold. Defense has the it factor, stout run game and a QB that doesn't get in the way and makes minimal mistakes. Teams awesome, big win last night.

on a side note: we'll never see a team win with 2/3 passing and 19 yards ever, in today's NFL - crazy.

I woke up still buzzing from the fever dream that was last night's game.

What a freaking wild ride it was. Shame on everyone who was *****ing about not throwing enough passes.

That **** was magical. I wish they hadn't thrown a single pass.

I wish they'd thrown *once* only, and it was a 2nd down play inside the red zone in the 4th quarter when Rham got blown up the backfield. I friggin' felt it before the snap and thought, HERE, THROW THE ONE PASS RIGHT HERE, and sure enough Buffalo just blitzed their entire defense through every gap. Rham got deleted, while any sort of quick play action would have probably been a TD or at least a first down.

I gotta believe they were greatly tempted to call a pass there. Still, they stuck to the plan, didn't risk a turnover, and came away with crucial points to go up 4.

And to make it even better, we get more breathing room when Buffalo gets to go to Tampa this week and get smashed.

You’ve got to feel really bad if you’re the Bills. You lose to a team at home that had a predictable game plan all night, yet you couldn’t force them to throw.

I don't think the people who were *****ing about the lack of passes were "that" wrong, although I'm a little biased cause I was calling for em here and there. We came away with a win and if you need to run it 50 times and pass it 0 then I will never complain about it. But in the middle of the game with a one possession lead, trying to run clock, I would've liked to see a safe pass or two to try and make 3rd or 4th down manageable enough. Hindsight's 20/20 but if the Bills end up making 2 field goals and putting us down 14-16 with less than 2 minutes to play and we have to pass, we're probably talking about how we were a little bit too shy to pass.

BUT fortunately for us, it didn't come to that. Buffalo missed a FG, then got shut out in the redzone and we held on. Nobody, I mean literally 0 patriots fans on this site, would complain about the run-to-pass ratio if you told us ahead of time it'd result in a win

They changed the rules a few years back that if you defer, you have the option to either decide if you take the ball or not or which end zone you will defend in the second half. So if you defer, you can end up choosing which end zone to defend in both halves.
Thanks, I never knew it meant both halves.

This was the first game the won with the game on the line, builds belief, buy in etc. I think football Gods are pats fans this season.

Watch Trent Brown on the play at the end of this clip. That has to be a record for (mass x distance run) with an extra credit for number of people blocked:

Love Baldy's giggle at the end there. People hate to admit it, but there's just something that is so warming watching smash mouth football.

So, all you Jonnu Smith critics, how's it feel to have him be targeted on 33% of the team's passes, and the recipient of 50%,of the team's completed passes, in a road victory over the might Bills' defense?!!!!

The crying in Buffalo is so sweet to these ears this morning. Here in Toronto we have been hearing for the past two years how the Bills were gonna own the AFC now that Brady and the Patriots were done. I think they fully expected the Patriots would wander in the wilderness for 20 years like the Bills did before they'd ever contend again. They can't believe New England has turned it around in just one year.

On the Bills board there is talk that the NFL should have never allowed a game to be played under those conditions and it should have been cancelled. Now they want their new stadium to be a dome too. All because they couldn't run or stop the run.

What a bunch of wimps. Football is meant to be played in the elements. Northern climate teams embrace the weather and forge an identity because of it.
The only two north teams that play in enclosed stadiums are the Vikings and the Lions, and look at what they have accomplished. Nada

Yet he's added a lot in the running game through his blocking and has caught the ball when it has been thrown his direction.

It was a bad play by Harry but a worse coaching decision, IMO. I think, having seen the first punt, they expected the ball may roll (and therefore be easy to field), so they wanted someone back there to field it to prevent the Bills from downing the ball inside the 5 ... and maybe you're able to break a big return and get positive field position as a result. It appeared Gunner was also back, but positioned much further up the field than Harry, but I'd have to see the replay.

At any rate, the idea makes sense, but why you'd select that person to be Harry instead of someone like Bourne or Meyers is completely beyond me. Harry has no recent live-game experience fielding punts, so why have him do it under extremely adverse circumstances? He was setup to fail. He could have and should have done better but I don't want that one (admittedly, really bad) play to overshadow his generally positive contributions to the team/offense thus far.

As a final side-note, why they haven't thrown him 4-5 goal-line fades/slants/box-outs, or an occasional go-route when Mac is in the game and during a competitive stretch of play, is beyond me. He is extraordinarily successful on a very high percentage of those plays when given the opportunity, and (save for when Hoyer is in the game, late) they rarely give him much of a shot. I get you can't build an offense around one player/type of play, but attempting to manufacture some touches to maximize what seems to be a really strong skillset for contested/50-50 balls feels like it could be a good idea, especially when in the red-area and points are at a premium.
After wtching Herbert launching jump balls all over the field against Cinci this week, Harry should go there.
