Many years ago, I was working in my 2nd story office in Bangor, Maine when I heard a commotion out on the street below. When I looked out the window, I saw a van parked down the street in front of a book store. The van had on its side bold lettering saying “Stephen King killed John Lennon”. Yes, according to the van’s owner, one of America’s most renowned authors and Bangor’s most famous resident was responsible for the murder of one of the world’s most renowned musicians.
Months later, Election Day 1992 to be exact, I was working alone in my office when a man appeared at my open office door and came in and sat down. It was the owner of the van. He proceeded to regale me with his tale of conspiracy including how Paul McCartney had called out to him between songs at a concert in Modesto, CA to not give up and get “Justice for John”. I just nodded as he spoke and eventually he got up and left.
Sometimes, Dropkick’s posts about McDaniels and his tenacity on the subject remind me of that visitor from so many years ago.
