Totally different situations. Eli is football royalty and his brother was the reigning MVP and his dad is one of the most connected men in football. That was a power move only that family could do. Elway had baseball to fall back on because he was that talented of a prospect.I have no sympathy for Trevor if he accepts the Jaguars taking him at #1. More top prospects need to take control of their careers like Elway and Eli Manning before him. You've worked your whole life to get to this spot and you only get one shot. You can't reward bad organizations and there aren't many QB's that have had success going to the worst team in the league. The only players that come to mind that have had success since 1998 are Peyton Manning, Luck, Stafford (statistically) and now Mayfield.
As much as I complain about BB, I'd still put money on him than the damn Jaguars.
He has more leverage than you think. No team will take him if he doesn't want to play for them as it would be a waste of a high 1st round pick. While Kobe Bryant wasn't the #1 overall pick, he was a high pick and his agent told teams he's only playing for the Lakers. Ditto with Lonzo Ball.Neither situation is remotely similar. Lawrence is football or bust and the league isn't going to get behind him. If the Jags don't draft him, the Jets will. If he tries to force a trade, they can hold him back a year and start screwing with his career.
????
And.....
You must not be familiar with how much of a Christian Lawrence reportedly is. It played a big part in him playing for Dabo and it will play a big part in him preferring Jacksonville over New York.I have no sympathy for Trevor if he accepts the Jaguars taking him at #1.
