NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION Chiefs @ Broncos game thread - (Updated) Reaction to Mahomes' Injury

Exactly Eff them. I’m not going to wish Mahomes serious injury, but if he ends up getting one, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA you inbred ****kickers our there.
Dude- You can't swap out Capt Avatar as your avatar for Desslok. That destroys your "Avatar" angle :p

I know it's a completely different scenario, but I'm thinking of Kevin Durant and how I felt he should not have tried coming back against the Raptors. He sustained a much greater injury as a result and, even though he got the mega deal anyway, probably has altered the twilight of his career to some degree. Of course I'm not a doctor so I have no way of really knowing for sure, but certain injuries, like the ones being discussed, have lingering effects more often than not.

Again, I wish the best to Mahomes. He's a great young player and good for a league that does enough to hurt its own product.
This looks like the KD debacle all over again. I hope I'm wrong because I'll love for Mahomes to be 0 - 3 and possibly 0 - 4 vs Belichick and Brady!

So he will likely play with a brace when he comes back. The chances of re-dislocating is pretty much high. I guaranteed you teams will try and get as many hits on him. Push him out the pocket and force him to scramble. The chiefs are setting themselves up for a PR nightmare if he’s rushed.

Pats are gonna throw the kitchen sink at him.

Well at least he won't aggravate that ankle while his knee heels

Just in terms of top AFC records, the Bills might now be the number one competition or threat. Considering their schedule, I would not be at all surprised if they end 13-3 or 12-4.

And Mahomes in a brace means there's two ways now of limiting his effectiveness.... squeeze him into the pocket (way too easy now) and blitz him up the middle at every opportunity.

Ok, Dr. Thomas Paine. I didn’t know they had football back in your day.

Ok, let’s call an Andy Reid timeout.

So it’s ok for say Edelman to say, play with a rib injury but not if he had a leg injury because trauma can happen to say, the leg to a greater degree than say, a rib? Is that you’re common sense point?

Football back in my day involved kicking dead British soldiers. Very gruesome but there was quite a chess match involved with the strategy, playbooks, rosters, etc.

Players play through injuries all the time. Every situation has different risk:reward depending on a variety of factors, including whether or not a certain player is the difference of about 6-8 wins (Mahomes). Having the best QB in the league, already limping around and clearly vulnerable, as he is wincing on every hit, push himself into a pile of crashing linemen is a very questionable gamble, especially when there are other options like a pro-bowl fullback. The situation reminded me of RG3...with him, you could just see something was clearly wrong with his body and he shouldn’t be playing for the sake of his career. This is a much more mild version of this, but really any designed running play with Mahomes is batsh1t crazy there considering the circumstances.

In terms of Edelman, the team clearly used him as a decoy as a few weeks ago and avoided throwing to him over the middle. If you play injured players, then it’s common sense (boom!) to at least avoid designed plays that make them more susceptible to making an injury worse. But lower leg injuries are particularly risky.

Idk what kind of brace he will use but my patella stability brace was so restrictive I couldn't bend my knee 90° while taking a ****. I can't imagine anything less bulky than the ACL brace Brady wears because it wouldn't even be effective at protection. His mobility is gonna be horrid + risk of reinjury high. Teams are just gonna tee off on him.

Yeah, but they always lose some of these easy games. They also got really lucky against the Titans. But I tend to agree with you, based upon their schedule, 10-6 or 11-5 is really easy to see...

I would never wish for an injury on any opposing teams players or celebrate a serious injury but I’ve also never understood the mindset of opposing fans who say “I hope he comes back as soon as possible. He’s good for the NFL.”

F*CK
THAT

As long as the injury is not career ending or threatening, I always want the player to be out for as long as possible. I feel badly for Mahomes, kind of, but I hope that he stays away for as long as possible. Rival team’s Player X aggravates a hamstring injury or turf toe and will miss at least two more weeks? Excellent.

I am laser focused on what is best for the Patriots and a Chiefs team that is led by Moore/Henne/Eli is a good thing for them. I also dislike the Chiefs fan base.....most of you would feel the same way if you checked in on their message boards from time to time. I thoroughly enjoy any NFL-related mental anguish that they endure.

Let me explain it.

Mahomes IS good for the NFL. Look at all the ****ty QBs out there. They have the most accommodating NFL passing rules and 90% of them still suck.

No Mahomes and you get freaking Matt Moore and washed up Joe Flacco every Sunday.

Gimme Mahomes over that bag of **** any day.

I read last night that some people are anatomically more likely to dislocate a knee then others structurally. And that if it happens a first time re-occurrence is common.

Now I have no idea if that is true. Read it on twitter.
It is true (I spoke with a doctor).

Ankles too, in Mahomes' case. He's physiologically more likely for the knee and ankle issues he's had.

I understand that Mahomes is good for the NFL. What I’m saying is that I don’t care.

Do you just not care or just not care and can't stand it?

:p

Everyone saying since last year he is the next GOAT but its hard to see him having the longevity of Brady to surpass him. I'd say he is more likely a flash in the pan like so many others.

If he can be a pocket QB, he could still have a nice, long career. Every time he breaks the pocket, he puts additional stress on his knees and ankles.

My rehab plan for Mahomes: play it safe, take the next 3 seasons off. Then sign with us when brady retires.

I would rather play the Chiefs with Patrick Mahomes healthy even though it gives them a better chance of beating us.

We will still beat them and bring us one step closer to "Yeah but he never beat Brady" as part of his legacy.

This. Because the media would like to write the narratives on how the Pats got lucky because they avoided Mahomes.

**** Magimply and screw the Chefs and their inbred fanbase...that is all I got
