I emailed the ticket office to see what my total deposit that I'd get back if I dropped off the waiting list was, and among other things in their reply they said this:

Season tickets become available as a result of a non-renewal by our current Season Ticket Members. As you may know, we have had an incredible renewal rate of 98-99% over the past few years. With our extremely high renewal rates it is very difficult for us to determine how long it will be until you have an opportunity to become a Season Ticket Member.

Our records indicate that you joined the List in 9/XX/2003. To give you a point of reference, prior to the 2016 season we offered season tickets to those members who signed up in the early months of 2003. We were not able to extend any offers for the 2017 season.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, between the seat-destroying construction of stupid lounges and Kraft playing footsie with scalpers.

Can’t get tix at all. I want at least two games this year as I believe things will change soon.

Ticket Exhange is the only reason to be on it

Yup I cancelled

True, and to be blunt nobody in Sept of 2003 new that we'd be going through this rollercoaster 15 years later. So the fact that you haven't got on it at that early period means there isn't a point of even being on it. 15.

Now that said, without the exchange maybe it bumps people up alot. But truth be told I'm in my mid 20's, if I started now, there's no way I get to see any tickets until my 40's.

Damn. That is rough given how long you've been on the list.

I signed up in '09, and I've known for a long time I won't see tickets in the Brady era, but once he/BB retires, I expect the renewal rates will go way down.

At this point I’m on the waitlist just to see how long it’ll take.

I've thought that, too.

However, once your name comes up, if you don't take the tickets you forfeit your deposit.

I think it was only $200 for me. It might be just worth it to humor myself.

At age 74 I think I'll forego signing up no matter what the deposit ! :D

I joined back in 2006 or 07 I think. I picked just a single seat in the hopes that I'd be able to get the odd loose end seat offered, and then eventually expand it as the need arose.

That plan obviously doesn't seem to be working out.

@QuantumMechanic did you drop out? If not, at least you're in the right year. I get why the shift away from ticket exchange is making some folks disinterested. I honestly didn't use it many times, and those times I tried there was nothing available.

@ForThoseAboutToRock I am seriously thinking about dropping out. I've gotten really disillusioned with the NYFL and I'm not thrilled with things Kraft has done, especially the horrible treatment of the STHs who got turfed out to build the stupid Optum Lounge and the way he screws over STHs in the SB lottery. And the sucking up to Goodell, of course.

What happened with the SB lottery?

People will drop the tickets once Brady retires.

Yep. By how much depends on how good/bad his replacement is. If they find a capable replacement, it won’t be by that much. If they have to endure some 3-13, 4-12 seasons, people will leave in droves.

As someone who went through those seasons & worse, I agree.
It's one thing to go to a game or 2 or 3 when your team is a major loser, it's another to pay $$$ for preseason and all the home games.
Back then seats and parking were relatively cheaper than today.

Blame millennials, the scourge of America. Fantasy football + smartphones + light beer = increased demand for stadium lounges = fewer seats for dedicated fans who actually want to watch the games. Sometime in the future, Gillette Stadium will resemble one giant lounge surrounded by 16 jumbotrons to which games are simultaneously telecast from remote locales. Victories will be measured in fantasy points, as fantasy point systems will be devised for each position including linemen, although offensive linemen will be considered more valuable than even linebackers or defensive backs. Game scores will be in the 80-70 range; any game with fewer than 20 touchdowns will be considered a "defensive struggle."

Club seat owners will enjoy admittance to the team owner's hip-hop parties on game day, where they can pay a premium fee to mingle with celebrity guests and drink more light beer while sexy female "cheerleaders" give them individual fantasy point updates every 10 minutes. Also in this era, team coaching staffs and defensive players will be hired and fired by committees of offensive players headed by the quarterback and his top two wide receivers (unless, for example, the tight end is of superstar status).
