Solder: Either was or wasn't offered similar money to stay.

everyone is ignoring the fact that solder just cut down the number of games hes going to have to play each year by 3.

thats almost an extra month, maybe a little more counting bye weeks that he gets to spend with family.

And supposedly his son is completing his chemo treatment, so keeping the same doctors may have become a smaller factor

The Patriots obviously wouldn't make Solder the highest played player in NFL history - we've never done that. Also, the Giants signed him to a 4 year deal with a lot guaranteed - while we likely did a short term deal.

Gotta love how someone can take an ambivalent quote and turn it into the preferred narrative. Pretty cool for Solder that he had so many going after him so hard. THat's got to be satisfying.

Pats couldn't afford that - and the rest of the quote, about location, tells me that they were NOT one of the three teams in the final mix. I'm guessing they made him an offer, he went out, saw that offer blown away, and the Pats (rightly, given their cap) backed away.

"Hi, I know this is my first time talking to my fans on a new team. I really only came here for the money, I could really give a crap about the tradition, the losing record, the crappy quarterback, your stupid blue uniforms, etc. I don't really care about you either, just that enormous pile of money this team paid me. Did you know I am the highest paid OL in the league? F* yea. Probably the highest paid OL in league history."

(What he should've said at the press conference)

I think the giants now will compete with the eagles for that division.

WTF Happened?

Posting a new thread since the other one was closed. Make of this what you will...

Nate Solder: New England Patriots, New York Giants offered equal money
Maybe the players are pissed, like a lot of the fans, that BB appeared to throw the Super Bowl for no apparent reason other than he didn't like Butler any more, and the players are leaving because they can get the same or similar money elsewhere and not have to work so hard for it, particularly for a guy who told them the team and the SB are everything, and then made it about something else. I was feeling pretty disillusioned after the game. I guess some players were too. Hopefully some fresh faces and a new season can erase all the negativity.

Read the rest of the thread first. The details in the OP are being disputed. This calls for another thread title edit.

If the money was about the same, it just means that he would rather play for the Giants than the Pats. Sometimes people just want a change of scenery if for nothing other than to see what another place may be like. Solder played his whole career with the Pats.

Sick of all that winning, huh? LOL.

Seriously - he went where he wanted to go ... a change of scenery.
Happens all the time with professionals of all careers.
Good luck to him and his family - Nate seems like a great family man.

Speaks to players getting sick of bills dictatorial way of running the team. Guys r getting sick of his schtick apparently....it sucks because its proven to be a winning formula...matter of time before avocado ice cream boy gets bill schittcanned....

Great straw man ... what else do you have?

I’d frame his jersey in gold if he said that

technically Solder didnt say which teams offered competitive offers. there were other teams in the running besides NE and NY
