My guess is isn't fully healed from his injuriesRowe's gonna have to play a lot better than what i saw in the super bowl if he will be our second corner.
I doubt that our top 3 Safeties are among the best in the NFL, but whatever.I expect Butler to play elsewhere.
SAFETY
We all want Belichick to find an upgrade to Richards. Maybe, this will be the year. Our top 3 are among the best in the NFL. In any case, no upgrades are needed.
CORNER
We have Gilmore, Rowe, J Jones, and C Jones.
I expect us to re-sign/extend Badmosi. He's a fine #5 CB, a STer who can start.
I would like to see us bring in a top nickel back; the cost would not be great. At very least, I see Belichick bringing in 2-3 corners to compete with the Jones boys, and perhaps Rowe (although I think that Belichick is fine with Rowe starting).
Draft one CB and 2 safeties
I doubt that our top 3 Safeties are among the best in the NFL, but whatever.
As of now, we don't have Jonathan Jones, and might not have him for All of next season either, if he indeed suffered a torn Achilles tendon.
The cost would not be great to bring in a top Nickel back? That's news to me.
And if Bill really is fine with Rowe starting, then he has truly gone Full ******.
I'd say ...
- draft one safety; add another 1-2 UDFAs
- sign one relatively cheap veteran free agent CB and add another 1-2 UDFAs
The 2 safeties we have on the practice squad, D. Jones and Travis, are they any good? Maybe they will push for a roster spot?
I'd say that McCourty and Chung are among the best in the NFL at what they do. They're much more versatile than most NFL safeties and there are many NFL teams that haven't even begun to use safeties the way the Pats do.
"Torn Achilles" for JJ? First I've heard of that. Most reports I've read have said "broken foot".
I would draft 2 safeties due to the fact that we have mccourty, chung, and harmon.......good experience, good leadership......we can afford to bring in youth there and spend FA dollars elsewhere......that's what I was thinking
I'd go far enough to say it's a priority.......mccourty and chung aren't spring chickens
I just went through a draft sim that netted us with DE Davenport, SS Harrison, and FS Reid with our 1st 3 picks

Broken foot is probably better. Do you have a source? Admittedly, I have been regurgitating assumptions based on how he looked when he went down.
Yeah, he's pretty solid and gives them an additional mix and match guy in man coverage.
In all honesty, I feel like we played way too much man this year. Very unlike a BB D.
Yeah stick them on the Jets first then I'd be happy to witness it.I have a morbid curiosity to see what a defense with Jordan Richards and Cyrus Jones on the field together at the same time looks like.
Rowe is an OK #3. He is still young but at this point he is average. Not exactly a guy I'd be comfortable starting.Rowe doesn't have convince this board of his value, especially not based on his performance in one game. He has already convinced the coaches.
With only 6 picks and other areas to address, I went with one drafted safety. There hasn't been a lot of quality difference between safeties who are still on the board after the 3rd round and those who can be picked up as UDFAs.
But, I agree about now being the time to bring in some youth to groom.
If we get rid of Richards and upgrade our pass rush, our secondary will be so much better!!!
