Central Thread For Mourning/Canonizing Jimmy Garoppolo

Jimmy > Brady going forward and it's not even CLOSE. Belichick refused to make the hard decision that needed to be made. He probably already knows trading Jimmy is the biggest regret he'll have in his career.

Who's to say it really was his decision and he wasn't directed by Bob Kraft to keep Brady at all cost?

I think that plays into this whole situation as being "complex" as described by BB himself. He knew how good JG was and didn't want to trade him. It's just amazing how that 49ers team with so many holes has all of a sudden turned into a very good team overnight.

The organization may have made a big mistake.

Just skimming through the comments ... the wailing, gnashing of teeth, wrending of garments ... the condemnation of BB and/or Kraft for allowing JG ("the next GOAT") to get away ...

I'm not sure I've ever seen a more appropriately-titled thread.

Thanks for the BYE, Jimmy.

We're on to the Jets.

Absolute F**king disrespect for Brady on here from people

Then again they are the same people that only come to this forum to whine about the team.

Like this troll. Here are his only posts in the last 2 months

No way Brady keeps playing until he's 45. Yeah RIGHT.

Pats made a mistake trading Jimmy G! Tom Brady is on his last legs!

Jimmy should still be a Patriot and should have been penciled in as the starter in 2018. Belichick refused to make the hard unpopular decision that needed to be made. Jimmy will be a star for the next 10 years and Belichick will regret giving him away for peanuts.

Feel free to quote me this time next year.

You know, I watched a lot of today’s game and last.....and there is no question that he is Brady-esque....which is a huge compliment. But he is his own man, and like someone mentioned earlier he has a LONG WAY to go in any comparison to the GREATEST QB OF ALL TIME.....in Tom Brady.

That having been said, I am extremely impressed with what I have seen thus far. He appears to be a great student of Brady and Belichick....and the way he operates the O and checks down ....if you didn’t know it was Jimmy....you would swear it was TFB!!!

I wish somehow we could have kept them both because as LEGENDARY as Tom is, and as great as his diet and routine make him feel ....he is getting older and slower and more prone to mistakes and injury.....Jimmy G would have provided a seamless transition imho.

But it just was not to be and in Belichick we trust.......but I do believe that B.B. truly wanted to keep Jimmy.....but his wishes were overrided. Think about it....since Brady....B.B. has tried to draft not only a backup but also the eventual successor to Brady .....because honestly I don’t think anyone including BB knew Brady would play this long. And.....B.B. never really got it right with any of these QB draftees.....until Jimmy (in my opinion only).....and now he is gone....and showing the rest of the world how great HIS POTENTIAL IS!!! Again long way to go.....but he has shown in last several weeks that he could be really good.....or quite definitely.....extraordinary......Good luck Jimmy.....as long as we don’t have to deal with you!!!!

He's definitely channeling Brady: deep preparation, quick reads and reactions, on point time management, attention to detail in how his receivers run routes - even the "locked in".

This thread is a good way of rounding up all of the trolls into one thread.

Of course some aren't trolls mainly panicky chicken littles who would probably *********** over Garoppolo immideately following a Pats SB win.

Side note: Garoppolo looks great so far. Small sample size but so far he has been quite a success over in SF. He definitely has what it takes to be a top QB. Will be interested to see what he does with a full season.

People really think BB should have gotten rid of Brady for a completely unproven JG.

Hilarious.

Trolls and chicken littles. If TB12 doesn't win it all this year and falls off next year and we don't acquire a good successor while Garoppolo wins a Super Bowl or two, let's talk.

So much commentary from Brady’s underwear brigade

In reality I think Brady is good for 2 years at the most from now.....I personally think kraft wanted to have Tom retire as a Patriot and play his whole career here. I think Jimmy was a rarity as far as QB draftees are concerned.....and imho he will be a top 5 QB for years to come.we shall see....but in the end he may prove the Pats wrong for moving him!!!

We will see how he turns out, as every DC in the league will now have loads of tape about what he does well and what he doesn't. I am hopeful and wish him all the luck in the world. He seems a natural leader. Remember though, Mirer was better than Bledsoe in year one but was worked out.

If Brady is retired in two years and Jimmy G is the guy who turned SF into a contender/winner we will look short sighted in getting rid of him, just like if SF had got rid of Young to ride Montana to death. But many 'if's' there.

I honestly don't believe BB wanted to trade him but had no choice. As far as the unproven part, coaches know better than us fans on a message board. They know whether a qb has the goods or not.

I have confidence we will. In fact I expect he will be better than JG.

Yup and that’s why the 26 year old with lots of upside was eventually sent packing and the 40 year old with all downside was kept. To me that says it all.

Glad he’s doing well and happy he could help out his ex team today. Nothing more.

JG is a stud. I never doubted him.

Still, there was nothing we could've done to keep him. And it does pisses me off

And it does pisses me off

It kinda sucks but this is why the league is structured the way it is. At least we can take solace that BB yet again hit on another great QB draft pick.

I’m stunned that people could think this way. I’m going to list cold facts.

1. Patriots are champs because of Brady. No way any quarterback but Brady wins that game.

2. Patriots are now 12-3, have a bye week and no ones going to beat this team when it matters and all of you know this.

3. Brady has pulled this off with a horrid schedule, massive injuries, no number one receiver etc.

4. Teams run at the pats every week as if it’s the play offs and teams take any cheap shot they can yet, Jeze the guy is going at mvp pace.

5. The defense is fried from too many injuries.

What more can this guy guve?

Don't you know?

21 for 30
242 yards
2 TD (& 1 TD rush)
1 INT

Is enough to say keeping the guy who has brought your "favorite" "team" to the SB 7 times and won it 5 times, 2 times in the last 3 years and is still playing at a level of Best QB in the league was the wrong decision.
