Are the Jets Tanking?

This might be the saddest excuse for an NFL roster ever assembled. They are obviously tanking the season and gunning for years top draft pick. No way Todd Bowles survives what could be a winless season.

I assume you are talking about harris not decker. Decker has been there like 13 seconds. Harris has been there his whole career. Anways the jets cant even figure out how to suck. They are going at it with everything they have. And the fan base is so f@cking stupid they think its a youth movement. I have read post on their board that says they are a 10 win team. From the owners to the fans that entire franchise should be burnt to the ground. Things like if they are tanking than why did they bring in josh mccown.. who gives them the best chance to win. Seriously its that sad. They are clueless. Can you imagine uttering the statement "it seems like we are tanking but why did we bring in josh mccown. " jets fans are the dumbest fans by a mile.

I know the guy you are talking about. I got Decker mixed up with Cherbet- who is already gone. I know a lot of people here are obsessed with the Jets. Personally I don't get it and pay little to no attention to them. I just think what they are doing this offseason is ridiculous.

ever hear of Curtis Martin? Bill Parcells?...and hatred COULD be construed as obsession but I personally prefer pure hatred of the green scum.

Curtis Martin was my all time favorite Patriot. I have never been hit so hard by a player loss. But dude, that was 20 years ago. I moved on a long time ago. What Parcells did was against the rules. If he hadn't done it while in the employ of the Jets he probably would not have gotten away with it. And Kraft chose not to fight it. Lack of backbone seems to be a recurring theme with him. But that is ancient history. What have the Jets ever really done to affect us? That one playoff win was the result of us playing like garbage. We would have lost to anybody. The Jets are harmless. Beneath my notice. I reserve my hate for teams that have been a threat to us and/or are full of scumbags like the Colts, Ravens and Broncos. Hating the Jets is like hating the Browns. I hate the Giants more than I hate the Jets. Two lucky Superbowl wins against us and the fact that they are held to a different set of rules than the rest of the league.

The only case I could make against them is that are Fraudger's team. That and the fact that I hate all things NY by default. But that's about as much "hate" as I can work up for the Jets.

you're a better man than I,dafoe...I've been a green puke hater since the Klecko days...before that I was consumed by Dolphin/Shula rage. I know it's not supposed to be healthy but...It's got me this far.

I will laugh for days if they somehow go 7-9 this year.

It just occurred to me...and though I am throwing up in my mouth while typing this:
I'm cheering for the Jets in every game except against us this year.
Why not?
It would ruin the suck for ____ strategy and even if they somehow become a formidable team, they would make an easy out for us.

Agreed. The most recent example I can think of was Hackenberg. The consensus was that he was a can't miss stud in his first season before falling off a cliff after that.
Jake locker was another.

This 'tanking the season' plan of Woody Johnson (assuming that he's behind it) is a dangerous game. He could alienate/lose a big portion of the fan base in the process. They could hypothetically go 1-15 and get bust of a First overall pick. Then this thing could really spiral.

Yes, they're tanking. Yes, they're in this position because Idzik, who many of us said was going to be a disaster, was a disaster.

Now, with any luck, they'll pick the wrong QB next year, and be on the hook for another 4 seasons.

It's not luck, it's pure skill and no one in nfl history has mastered drafting first round busts like the jets have.

Throwing a dart at a board would produce better results then the jets have doing their impression of scouting over the years, i think it's the logo, doesnt even seem to matter who's making the decisions over the decades.

Why would the Jets assume that they will improve by owning the first pick of the draft?

Think about it, they are the j-e-t-s!

Are they suddenly not going to be the Jets? Of course not! They're simply going to ruin some poor unsuspecting 22 year old football player's life!

It is being reported that they are trying to talk Steve Smith out of retirement.. go figure that one.

Where is fireman ed??
Trying self-immolation......as a protest...

How can a team tank from being one of the three worst teams in the NFL?

Well, purging the roster is a very good first step, but to get to the next level they should really consider bringing Bill Pollian in as a consultant, he's got the experience of guiding a franchise in a deliberate effort to obtain the first overall pick. Pollian knows how to cut the right players and pass over those who can help out when you have first dibs on the waiver wire. Experience matters, and Pollian is the man to guide them in their quest.

If you go to any Pats/Jets games this year and Hack is their QB lookout.

In all seriousness they weren't plugged in when making this pick. This guy had one year of pretty good tape and just fell apart in spectacular fashion.
