Patriots asking for this compensation for Jimmy G...

You know, if teams actually think the Patriots won't tag Jimmy G, why the hell wouldn't they just wait until they can grab him in FA? It's one year. Talk fast to the owners about getting him when the getting is better and about the guys you could get instead with those picks and just... freaking... WAIT!

1. People's job may be on the line based on one year's results.

2. By getting JG now, the team that gets him has the flexibility of actually test driving the car, before having to invest a boat load of money on him.

3. If after one year and JG doesn't work out, the team that traded for him may get comp picks if he signs elsewhere.

You should know the answer to this. If you don't then you should think seriously hard as to WHY.

p.s. there's more than one reason and it's been discussed to death.

Edit: I see your username. Never mind to my reply ;)

Oh man! You ruined my fun with my post 3 seconds later than yours.

Teams could trade for him now or only after March 9th when free agency starts?

This is how the robbery starts. Lets just say this rumor is true. (i hate hypotheticals)

Browns willing to part with 12 and 33. Other teams have already discussed JG but now a little more comfortable with trading since Cleveland is willing to give 12 and 33. If rumors are verified, then 12@33 becomes the rock bottom price, anything lower isnt worth the Patriots time.

Anyway this is how it starts and why you see teams giving up 2 1sts and 2 2nds for number 1 picks. Totally reactive to what other teams are willing to do and trying to one up them. This is why i believe the #3 pick in the draft may be a remote possibility towards the end.

Officially March 9th.. but according flip flop Lombardi the Patriots are not looking to trade Garrapolo. Now whether this is true or not I have no idea. Its all posturing at this point.

He will likely be traded. If not than he will be our future quarterback. Next year's quarterback class will be much better.

I still wouldn't mind the first overall pick alone. I could literally see Belichick turning that into 3-4 first round picks and change.

Of course this claim is pure speculation. BB is not calling anyone with demands for JG. He's in his office watching film and will certainly LISTEN to any offers that are made for Garapolo. And if he hears one he likes.......

BB sitting back and waiting is most likely correct.
Why just Draft picks? Will TB appreciate them in three years when they ripen? What happened to now?

17% success story on an overall Draft class in the NFL after a three year term. That success is classified by All Pro, Starter , Valuable back up or top tier ST guy. The rest out out of the league by injury or just out of talent.

Yes, the average first rounder has a higher success rate but don't count on a rookie to make the difference. The Boys were not counting on Prescott. He just happened.

Look at our first rounder Easley. Just don't count on the Draft as an end all be all. That is why Jimmy G is a better value than the kids this year at QB.

The Niners are not going anywhere with Kap. Trade No 2 for our #32 and include a young stud DE in the mold like Seymour in DeForrest Buckner and we get DE help asap to replace FA's Sheard, Long and a fading Nink.

No way.. Buckner is the real deal, has 3 years left on his rookie deal and the extra 5th year option being a first rounder... Buckner was 7th pick. He is a Richard Seymour IMO and Buckner is 23 in March. We got a 1st rounder for Seymour when he was 31. As far as I'm concerned Buckner is now worth more than that 7th overall pick

How about #12 and swap 2nd round picks ???

Not sure what the value chart says about that... but picking at #12, #32 and #33 would be pretty freaking great lol

That would give our team a lot value, especially if BB decides to trade down and stock pile picks. WE could use those valuable picks to reinforce our defense such as the pass rush and of course the interior of our O-Line....

Either Harmon or Ryan moves on, that would leave a big hole to cover, we need reliable backs in there to cover that void, especially against big wide receivers.

If he's looking for value then just trade jimmy to the browns for both second round picks and their 2018 first rounder. Browns have all the cap space in the world.

I can't believe how many stories are out there concerning Jimmy G. The bottom line is the Pats are say through their media outlets that we are not looking to trade Jimmy G. There at 3-5 teams that desperately need a QB and the draft this year is worse than usual. These teams need results now and a QB in the draft isn't going to help them. Coaches and GM's jobs are on the line. There is competition for Jimmy G and that is driving up the cost. Cleveland's #12 and #33 are not unrealistic.

The #12 overall pick and their 2nd rounder? Hell yea, pull the trigger!

The minimum that I hope the Pats are willing to take for Jimmy. There is a risk in every football move, but the upside to having a good (I'm not saying great) QB is so important to the health of a franchise, that I would not be surprised to see any deal, if one does happen, include more picks or personnel.

All it takes is one play with the reincarnation of Bernard Pollard next year and Jimmy G is off the market, tagged just like Cassel was. And at this point in Brady's career he might not make it back. Avocado ice cream and deer antler spray can only do so much ya know.

I think #12 is realistic but #33 may not be. If we get a 2nd from Cleveland it will be the Tennessee pick (#52). Cleveland needs #33 (I think a drop in talent starts after 4oth pick or so), by drafting a Garrett and a Dan Feeney, and I think getting #12 & #52 is still a great haul and almost anyone would make that deal. I know I would. It could net us, for our first 4 picks, a Reuben Foster, Desmond King, Bucky Hodges & a Cooper Kupp (love this kid, but many will say WR is not a need) or a Brian Hill (a one man wrecking crew this past season).

you are then assuming that every team will think exactly the same?
