Terrible. When the only guy you currently have is, and no disrespect to Kearse, is a guy who you basically blew away with an offer shee (i.e. making it so high Buffalo couldn't match it), it's disturbing. With all of the glaring holes that were brought to the light of day in the AFCCG, this is what they have done? With the possible 4 game suspension of Brady looming, and next to zero FA moves....

What are they supposed to do? Blow through the whole $16m in cap space in 48 hrs? They need a vet OG, RB and a LB. Thats kinda it.

Even by this time last year they had Sheard. And Chandler.

What does that tell you?

The pats draw a line in the sand - "this is what you're worth to us. Take it or leave it." There does not appear to be much wiggle room, especially with 16 million in cap space. I think it's safe to say with this amount left the pats are not going to be signing anyone of major impact.

Honestly, I just wanted to see Weddle with the Patriots to see how they would make it work. It never made much sense on paper, considering that 90% of suggestions here were to move Chung to the basically nonexistent third LB role.
Really that neant big nickel

Im all on board with the Pats FA tactic. They do the same thing every year and are in the AFCCG nearly every year. What kinda stings about today is it started off with a tease about Weddle coming and Long in for a visit. Then both basically blew up (long to a lesser extent as they just mention he has other visits he plans to take).

Just saw OG Zane Beadles (Jags) is visiting.

We have no idea if there was any "blowing up". It's not like the Pats pulled a Lucchino/Lester negotiation and blew the deals.

Well I am curious if the Pats plan to sign any other plays of note that are not just JAGs

Well, here we are five days out of Free Agency and we know that the Pats dabble with the crumbs but as a Pats fan, to this point have they gotten any better?

They got Hogan who may or may not be the next Welker only bigger, and two Jags. They resigned Waddle and Ebner and lost Hicks. They made a bunch of cuts.

The answer is no. They might be a little worse and that is fed with the now realization that if the game plan was to resign Collins, Hightower, Butler and Jones, the price of the market is such that Jones is absolutely gone and we better hope the other three sign. So that plan is a fail so far.

I think Weddle was high at $6.5mm I get that...... as was Sanu and Marvin Jones but it is almost as they are going through the motions.

Wait for the Draft you say Cousins? The worse Draft class in about 4 years. Trader-man Howie of the Eagles even said this year after the first ten players the drop off is significant. Well Cousins we are at #60.

My point is that there is still value on the FA board. We have played the annual N.E Pats FA "coy" game for 5 days to show how astute we are. Looking at the decision of Robert K on Brady doesn't bode well if we are on a mental bad steak.

But my biggest issue is that if they are waiting for Draft miracles, maybe not so much. Wake up Nick. Look at the Draft board.....OR are they going to swap their choices for 2017 like they have done in the past like swap #60 for a 2017 first rounder. Cool...Let's up Brady for another three years.

Now THAT is the type of guy they need at a position that needs skill and experience. Wonderlic of 36. Tough. Can play both G positions.

Zane Beadles SUCKED with the Jags. DO NOT WANT.

Thats not what i was saying. Im saying that to us uniformed going off rumors it seemed like something was happening then it was shown to be false rumors

Not so sure I see much comparison at all between Hogan and Wes...

Not interested in a OG. Got Jackson, Kline, Mason and the possibility of Stork/Andrews playing some OG. I think their main need on OL is to upgrade OT. Cannon just doesnt cut it.

Oh come on. Team building is a looooonnnng process. It's not complete in mid-March. This team was clearly the best in the league the first part of last year before horrific injuries struck.

Make smart offers, add some guys, go through the draft, pick up some guys this summer, etc. Patience.

If Beadles came here, I could see him quietly becoming a solid starter. Could also see him continuing his JAX ineptitude.

These things are funny. Sometimes players visit before money is discussed and sometimes after. We have no idea if money was discussed with either player or if there was some kind of "understanding" on framework of a deal but once word leaks out about visits (as it always does) teams get desperate and start bidding against themselves.
