Cannon Activated, Ventrone Released
By: Derek Havens

The New England Patriots announced today that rookie offensive lineman Marcus Cannon has been activated to the active roster. The team also cut safety Ross Ventrone and resigned defensive back Malcolm Williams to practice squad. ...

It's a good thing Ventrone packs light...see you next week Ross. Taylor Price is really lucky *phew*.

Does Ventrone have to leave a note on his nightstand every night reminding him whether he is a Patriot or not so he knows if he has to go to practice each morning?

Do you reckon we should have a Ventrone signed and released thread??? :D

Must be enough of them!

Farewell, Ventrone. I'll always remember you for that great tackle inside the 20 on the ensuing kickoff after the Pats took the late lead in SB42. You were denied your place alongside JR Redmond, Randall Gay and others in the pantheon of "Auxiliary Heroes" in Pats Super Bowl lore.

Regards,
Chris

Looking forward to seeing Cannon out on the field.

Great news story.

Good luck young man.

Funny!

But I think it was Ray Ventrone on that play (I'm too lazy to actually look it up). The thing about that tackle is how close it came to essentially ending the game on a fumble. It was an omen, I guess. Thanks for bringing this up ... not!

Wait....... What? We got rid of Ventrone?

Sad day in Patriot Nation........ until tomorrow when he is activated again.

Whoops! You are right. Ross is Ray's younger brother. I've modified the macros as follows (updates in italics):

That's funny Chris. I thought you were making a clever insider joke about the Ventrone bros in post #5!

I hear that the YMCA is Ross Ventrone's home address. Talk about blue collar.

You know, I commented in a thread a couple weeks back that if I were Ross Ventrone, I'd simply invest in a nice RV and live in it. Save a lot on apartments, motels, car payments, etc.

Heck, Maybe Bill and Mr. Kraft would let him park it overnight at Gillette?

:D

I assume he received more(Pro-minimum) when he was activated and used in games.

I really feel sorry for Ventrone now. I guess he is lucky because at least he has been playing for an NFL team...so that is great. But for some reason feel bad for the kid! Good luck Ross....see you in a few weeks (at the least!)

No, I honestly thought it was the same Ventrone. Apparently the Ventrones are quite a few notches below the Gronkowskis on the NFL Family totem pole*. News to me.

Regards,
Chris

* The Gronkowskis are a few notches below the Winslows and several notches below the Matthewses.

I know he's well compensated but damn. Can't be easy for his family.

I am starting to feel sorry for Ventrone. But I am happy for Cannon.

could of sworn that I heard he gets a standard 10k signing bonus every time he gets resigned...if true, he has probably already doubled his salary this season.

I think someone said he was planning to get a sleeping bag and rent one of BB's bathrooms.

Damn! Sergio Brown is still on the 53-54 man roster.
