Vincent talks about the eye poke on his web site!!
:rocker: 75 ROCKS
Quote from the Fan site
Q: In the December 29'th game I noticed you seemed to stick your fingers at least toward, and possibly into the opening of a Giants players face mask. Thing like that, are they a heat of the moment thing, and if so, if accidental do you later apologize or is their a animosity between two players in other, subsequent games?
Anthony Story - Plymouth, Indiana
A: thank you for talking the time to word your question that way. I have received a number of questions about it that just assume I was trying to poke him in the eye. It was nothing more than them doing trash talking and in the heat of the moment I pointed my finger in his face. I did not make contact with his eye or anything like that. After that it was over, on the field emotions are high there were several bumps amongst players and trash talking the whole game. It was one of the biggest games of the season and we all had a lot of emotion in the game. When things like that happen it is all heat of the moment and once the moment is gone it is over. There are no hard feelings and I really think the commentators did a great job of blowing it up. When the game was over we all said our byes and that was that.
Wilfork is the man, on the field and off all class.
I really hope we honor him with the kind of contract he deserves.
I say let Assante walk and pay the big man! :rocker:
But, but Chris Collinsworth said he poked him in the eye. Your telling me Collinsworth jumped to conclusions to bash a Patriot player? I don't believe it.
FOXBORO - "Bodybuilders are known for their six-pack abs. Nose tackles are known for something else. Just ask Vince Wilfork [stats].
âSix-pack?â Wilfork asked. âIâve got a keg.â LOL!!!!"
I love Vince, but he's got to watch the chippy stuff. He's not going to get any breaks for questionable stuff at his size and it really doesn't matter that he's a nice guy, he's going to get a rep and he's going to be targeted by the refs.
Play hard, but play smart too, Vince.
It wasn't the smartest move, but it's pretty obvious there was no intent to injure. It there had been, there would be a hole in Brandon's face where his eye used to be.
Get the checkbook out though, cuz I think he'll get a fine.

Lets all send Vince $1 for fines!!!! see how many we can get him!
That was how I saw it, but I guess I was one of the few who opted to think about the situation rather that blurt sh!t out their mouth.
If that's what you call "bashing" then you have thin skin, Homer.
At first it did look like a poke to the eye. On second look it just looked plain bad. On third look you might conclude, if you are being generous, that there was no intent to hit him in the eye. But how would you know that? It was pretty close.
I won't ask you what you'd think if you were a Giants fan because that would obviously put you into catatonic foaming at the mouth.

Actually, I would think it was pretty horrendous......There is no excuse for the behavoir we all saw on the field, from both sides.
But Wilfork is our boy, and most fans were and are upset by what we saw. Harrison has pulled some doosies in his career as well, but he is forgiven.
Burress had one hell of a game, and he should be pleased with his part of it.
No matter what team's colors we wear, we have to pat them on the head when they deserve it, spank them when needed, and ALWAYS have their back
no matter what the NFL does to Vince, I bet it is not as bad as Bill gives him!
No one's going to believe that Wilfork was pointing and trash talking - its the mythos of the Patriots where people now love to hate them and Wilfork is the latest "dirty player" whipping boy, who in addition to going "Mo" on players, sneakilly ties their shoelaces together in the scrum, and makes crank phone calls to opposing team player hotel rooms throughout the night, and posts fradulent early morning "Yard Sale" newspaper advertisements inviting folks to the homes of Conference rivals, going out of his way to note that "early birds are welcome!"
Anything for a competitive advantage
Whatever Vince meant by poking Jacobs it would have cost the team 15yds if a ref had seen him and that's why he shouldn't have done it. If I were BB I'd get on Wilfork's back about it because undisciplined play is progressive and spreads unless checked tightly at the onset. All this stuff about the "Patriot way" isn't just talk, it means keeping your head and performing sharply while the other team loses control; this mentality is very much a part of why the Pats win the tight games, win on the road, and win when it looks like they should have lost.
Fat Vince can say everything was fine and dandy after the game but admitting he was caught up in "the heat of moment" is hardly what BB or any fan wants to hear from your Pro Bowl NT just before the playoffs start. Cut the crap Vince.
What the hell are you talking about?
You were sitting on your sofa, too stunned to say anything immediately, while Collinsworth was obliged to say something immediately.
Vince lost it. What he did cannot be repeated. What else do you need to know?
Should I repeat it in Spanish?
Don't bother. Garbage is garbage, whatever the language.
Ditto after I read his post the first time. But after reading it the second time, I understand his point and was puzzled why I didn't get it after the first read. Time to get back to earth...
It was a slow deliberate point to the face, only a hater could possible conclude that it was with intent to poke his eye. I've never seen someone try to poke someone in the eye by slowly placing their finger near their eye. If it was a POKE he would have JABBED his finger in there. It's quite obvious he was pointing a finger in his face to get under his skin, no one likes a finger pointed in their face.
Try on a chair waiting for it to be blown out of proportion. Read back the post if you want. It was a condescending point to wind him up. Nothing more, nothing less.
And that will be all, thank you.
