Being lumped in together for determining franchise/transition tag values actually helps both nose tackles and defensive tackles. Since it only averages the top 5 and 10 salaries at the position, it logically follows that sampling from a larger group of players can only benefit all of them.
I guess. I'd have to see the bottom of ten, obviously the top guys could make more (Haynesworth). There might not be ten decent nose tackles. There's always a 3-4 team just scrambling trying to get lucky.
