Now that we are in the lull between the season and the draft I thought it would be a good opportunity to take the time and offer a salute and thanx to some of our more appreciated guests. A messageboard consisting of just us "homers" can get a bit "in-bred" without fans from opposing teams coming here to keep us honest. We can all recognize a troll, and we get our share here, but there are others whose contributions I value, even if they cause some discomfort at times. With that in mind I'd like to mention some posters who I want to personally thank for being solid contributors to our board.

My list will be no where all-inclusive, and I hope you all will fill in on those I've missed.

    So here goes:

Ryan the Colt Fan has to be at the top of the list. Even during the years when the Colts came up short, he would never duck out and hide.

Workhorse is another Colt fan who posts solid contributions. Never a troll, and his posts are always well worth reading.

Matter of fact, if it wasn't for Napolian, and the outright media cheerleading for Peyton and the Colts, the Colts may actually be likeable. Until the Colts finally won the SB and a few Colts trolls started appearing, it's amazing how troll-free Colts posters have been considering the intensity of the rivalry.

Two Rams fans JackPMiller and pisa have been solid additions. Particularly interesting when you consider that except for the 1st SB, the Pats and Rams paths rarely cross.

I put Closing Time in the good guy group. He occasionally slips into the trollish dark side, but generally speaking, he offers a valuable perspective from a strong AFC rival.

Considering how things began with the Chargers fans who posted here, I was disappointed in how poorly so many of them turned out. I was disappointed in how poorly they handled losing. I was hoping for better from them.

Through it all though jcdavey has emerged as a good Chargers poster, I hope he continues popping in from time to time.

DisgruntledTunaFan has been a good poster, offering insights from the Cowboys point of view.

This will get things started. I didn't plan to make the list all-inclusive and I hope some of you will add to the list. As I look through the members list I may come back here and add some more. :rocker:

Mods, this was intended for the main forum, please move.

The only reason for me to smile after the SB was because Ryan The Colts Fan got to experience what we have.

Is it even fair to call Ryan a visitor? He has more posts than about 80% of the Pats fans here.

Isn't there "1" Steeler fan that isn't too bad?

Notice that are no good Jets, Fish or Bills fans on here that I have know.

Maybe visitor isn't the correct term, but the point of the thread is well taken.

Ryan and others are not Patriots fans. Maybe they live in the area (as Ryan does) and want to post in a forum that fits with what they most often hear in terms of the football discussion going on around them...

The "best" ones bring something to the table, don't generally talk smack (we all like to posture a little bit though, nothing wrong with that) and generally provide a good perspective that many of us have come to appreciate.

Ryan's probably the best "routine" "visiting" poster but occasionally, before a big game, we'll even have a "trollish" new member come in who simply wants to compare notes, learn more about the Patriots strengths and weaknesses, analyze game planning and will share similar information from having followed one's own team closely.

These sort of members are few and far between but we do have them occasionally.

I give the Dolphins kid credit for coming back and taking his medicine when their season hit the skids. It would have been easier for him to stay away. I'm guessing that he's not going to be quite so bullish this post-season. Unless of course the 'Fins sign Jeff Garcia to solve their QB problemm. With him in the side they'll beat the PAts for sure/go to the Superbowl/establish new dynasty etc etc

Ryan and Workhorse are great too, as is JackPMiller, although I reckon I understand only about 30 per cent of what he says... (which is doubtless a failing on my part rather than his)

    Disable Jersey

I couldn't agree more about what we get from intelligent conversation with visitors from other teams. Some of the best just check in for a few days before a game and then are gone. In previous years we had some excellent visitors from the Bengals and the Eagles before the Superbowl -- I particularly appreciated NCEagle and the guy who set up the bet for a package of regional specialities to the winner.

I can't remember whether we had good Bengals visitors this year. I do remember that we had a couple of good visitors from Houston and Detroit (SACK MILLEN NOW!!!) and that the quality of Chargers visitors was a huge fall-off from the previous season (last season their team beat us handsomely and their fans were respectful and gracious in victory; this season they lost and still behaved like arrogant idiots ...)

    Thanks to all.

I come and post here frequently because:

    A) It's the most active football forum i'm registered to.
    B) I like to here others point of view.
    C) I live in Providence and i'm familiar with how most of you think. So it's like second nature.

Thanks for bone. I came here orignally because there were less Pats trolls here than on the Star's message board. Most here at least put a little thought into their posting before hitting the submit button. That and I couldn't let Ryan be the only one to defend the dark side. ;)

BTW, I went to the Super Bowl and had a great time, could have lived with a little less rain, but I have to say the AFC Championship game was a lot more of an emotional roller coaster. I thought I was going to puke the last five minutes of that game I was so worked up.

I will be the first one to admit that the Dolphins were a complete failure and that I was wrong on that prediction. I will also admit that I came in here brash and out of line. I understand this is in fact a Patriots' board and that I am in fact the guest and obviously you guys will all pick your Pats to succeed. I guess it just got to me at times how several posters would just make all kinds of guarentees with no evidence and would call me dumb for my opinions. I've learned to just forget about those who don't matter, and handle those who do with respect and perspective. I will still be supporting my Fins to the fullest this time around, but will do so with an open mind.

    :)

Good for you. Apologies for calling you the Dolphins kid. That was kind of rude, but I couldn't remember your name...

Seriously though, who plays QB for the Fins in 2007?

It's okay, I'm only 19 so I guess that's appropriate. (Sort of lol.)

I've got Daunte pitching balls for the Fins next year because I think it would just be dumb to not see what he can do with full health. It should be interesting if Quinn actully does drop to #9 and if the Fins should or shouldn't take him I don't know. But I think Culpepper is a very good QB and needs a shot with a healthy knee.

Yes, Quinn would be an interesting conundrum for them at number nine. If it were me, because of the question marks over Culpepper's health, not to mention his age, I'd grab him with both hands. But I think too much is being made of Quinn sliding down the draft; of those teams picking before Miami, only the Cardinals really have their QB situation sorted. There are a lot of Charlie Frye/Jason Campbell/David Carr/Tavaris Jackson types above, and although a lot of those teams might have bigger needs elsewhere they'll be tempted.

I agree 100%. I don't see any way Quinn falls that low. There have been rumors of the Dolphins trading up, but I really don't expect that to happen.
