Do the Patriots exercise his option?
If they were to exercise all remaining 5 years of his contract, that would be about 5 years/30 million more total to pay him.
5 years/30 seems a bit risky, in that most of that money is front loaded, so if he were to suck in a few years, or be injury prone, we'd be screwed. At his age (almost 28), he should have atleast 5 more prime years left though, so he shouldn't decline because of age.
If he is willing to take 5 years/25, I say sign him up. If they could get 5 years/20 mil out of him, I'd be ecstatic. At 6 mil/year though, I might say see what Chad Jackson has to offer.
The one thing about stallworth though, is that he hasn't had his huge payday
yet. This year's 3.xx mil is his highest salary, so he might be less willing to take the hometown discount than Moss appears to be
The two things that have most impressed me about him though is that:
1. He had no complaints, and even appeared happy, even though he wasn't getting the ball the first couple of games
2. After the catch, he's a beast -- fast, can juke, and can plow thru the defender.
7-8mil/year for Moss (hopefully)
5mil/year for Stallworth (hopefully)
3.5mil/year for Welker (4 more years, already signed...good value)
2.5mil/year for Watson (2 more years...this looks like a steal)
