It's easy, and only takes a few moments. To me, it looked like the stop route that Edelman frequently runs, but LaFell kept going. Brady threw to a spot. By continuing, LAFELL was in the wrong place & dragged the defender to the spot where he was supposed to be.
I believe it was reported that he took blame for the throw
LaFell on int: "Aw man I got happy, I got happy. I came off and I rushed my route a little bit. I fell in the end zone and I kind of faded at the last minute. I should've just stayed flat and took my time over there and slowed down cause the play takes awhile to develop...but I just rushed it."
Brady on LaFell's explanation: "Well it wasn't a good throw so that's what my responsibility is, and he and I are always working to get on the same page. It's just one of those things that happens in football and you certainly don't hope they come up in critical [times] but I could've certainly made a better throw."
From this it looks like it was some timing/miscommunication with LaFell, but Brady could've/should've adjusted.
Link on the Lafell portion?
