Tracking incentives

Pro Bowl
Mayo had a 300k LTBE Pro Bowl incentive
Ninkovich has a 200K LTBE Pro Bowl incentive
Talib has a 500K NLTBE Pro Bowl incentive
Slater has a 300K LTBE Pro Bowl incentive
Vollmer has a 250K NLTBE Pro Bowl incentive

46-man per-game roster bonuses
Mayo had a LTBE $31,250 per game roster bonus. He had earned $187,500 out of the possible $500,000 before being placed on IR.
Kelly had a LTBE $31,250 per game roster bonus. He has been inactive for 2 games this year
Svitek has a NTLBE $10,000 per game roster bonus. He has been active for 4 games earning $40,000.
Amendola has a $31,250 per game roster bonus. He played in 11 games last year so his LTBE amount is 343,750 (31,250 *11). He has been inactive for 4 games this year.
Talib has a $23,475.50 per game roster bonus. He played in 11 games last year so his LTBE amount is 257,851 (24,475.5 *11). He has been inactive for 1 game this year.

Receptions
Edelman has NTLBE reception incentives
If Edelman reaches 30 catches this season, he earns $30,000
40 catches lands him $70,000
50 catches equates to $120,000
60 turns into $180,000
70 or more equates into $250,000

Edelman has caught 46 passes so far this earning him an extra $70,000.

Playing-time
Vollmer - NLTBE $750,000 (if he plays 90 percent of offensive snaps)
Vollmer will get a $1 million roster bonus on third day of 2014 league year if he plays in 80% of the plays in 2013.

Michael Hoomanawanui
NLTBE
$125,000 if he plays 25 percent of snaps
$250,000 if he plays 35 percent of snaps
$370,000 if he plays 45 percent of snap

Marquice Cole
NTLBE
25 percent of defensive snaps: $95,000
35 percent of defensive snaps: $190,000
45 percent of defensive snaps: $285,000

As far as I know, the Patriots will not be credited with any possible cap savings (Mayo's Pro Bowl incentive, for example) in 2013. What will happened is that any cap savings will be used to offset NLTBE incentives that were actually earned by other players (like Edelman's reception incentives) at the end of the year and there will be an adjustment made to the Patriots 2014 cap number.

what i would like to see is the contract welker was offered from the pats and compare it to his current numbers and see what he would be making if he had accepted the pats offer.

Hi Miguel!

I think there's an inconsistency in your Mankins numbers. The main page lists his 2013 salary as $5.75 million; his detail footnote lists it as $6 million.

Unsurprisingly, his workout bonus is $250K.

I only noticed this glitch in his case, but I didn't look to see if it was replicated elsewhere.

.
The way I figure it, Hooman needs 59 total snaps in the remaining 7 games to get the maximum bonus. He has played 475/668 snaps. That averages to 74.2 snaps per game or prorated 1187 over the full season. 45% of that is 534 snaps. Having played 475, that leaves a need to play 59 total plays over the next 7 games (8+ per game) to get his maximum bonus.

Good catch!!

According to the NFLPA database his salary is $5,750,000. It appears that the source that gave Mike Reiss the information provided Mike incorrect information.

Why would ninkovich's pro bowl incentive be LTBE?
Isn't that based upon making the pro bowl last year?

Because any incentive added to a contract in the middle of the year is considered LTBE. In this case, Ninkovich's extension.

Hope that you do not mind that I have tweeted our your work.

Miguel, you are the man.

Edelman's reception bonus doesn't go high enough if you ask me. 70 catches is well within reach. I'm surprised he didn't ask for bonuses up to 100 catches.

If he catches four passes against the Panthers next time out, he gets $50,000! That awful drop in the 1st quarter against the Squealers must drive him nuts.

I also notice there are no rookie incentives. Are they allowed under the new CBA?

Rookie contracts can have playing-time percentages incentives in them. I have not seen them included in any Patriots draft picks contracts since 2011. Do not know if other teams have included them. Doubt it, though.

Should mention that Ninkovich has a 250,000 playing time incentive for 2014 that is based on him playing 75 percent of the defensive snaps. He has played 92.8 percent of the defensive snaps this year which would make this incentive LTBE in 2014.

Thanks for explaining

(A) He only needs ONE more catch to earn the $50,000 (he has 49 catches).
(B) I'm guessing it was based on the amount that the Pats were willing to give him. I imagine if they really wanted to do, they could have kept the ladder going, or gone with higher figures. But both sides agreed to max it out at $250K total for 70.

Vollmer will get a $1 million roster bonus on third day of 2014 league year if he plays in 80% of the plays in 2013.

Ninkovich has a 250,000 playing time incentive for 2014 that is based on him playing 75 percent of the defensive snaps. He has played 94 percent of the defensive snaps this year which would make this incentive LTBE in 2014.

Michael Hoomanawanui
NLTBE
$125,000 if he plays 25 percent of snaps
$250,000 if he plays 35 percent of snaps
$370,000 if he plays 45 percent of snaps

Hoomanawanui has played 60 percent of the snaps so far.

As part of the new CBA there is a proven performance escalator for draft picks chosen in Round 3 through 7. Ridley, Mallett, and Cannon are eligible for it in 2014. An eligible player will qualify for the Proven Performance
Escalator in his fourth League Year if: (1) he participated in a minimum of 35% of his Club's offensive or defensive plays in any two of his previous three regular seasons; or (2) he participated in a "cumulative average" of at least 35% of his Club's offensive or defensive plays over his previous three regular seasons.

Ridley played in 14% of the snaps in 2011, 44% in 2012, and 32% so far in 2013.
Cannon played in 7 games in 2011, 14% of the snaps in 2012 and 43% so far in 2013

Marquice Cole
NTLBE
25 percent of defensive snaps: $95,000
35 percent of defensive snaps: $190,000
45 percent of defensive snaps: $285,000

What will happened is that any cap savings will be used to offset NLTBE incentives that were actually earned by other players (like Edelman's reception incentives) at the end of the year and there will be an adjustment made to the Patriots 2014 cap number.
