No more amazing than seeing yet another thread here about the same topic.

Sounds like the proper way to end the disharmony is parting with Brady... BB gets 5 first round picks in next 2 years to prove he can do better than 45% w/l rate as a coach (without Brady). And Brady gets to prove himself again somewhere else. I will be rooting for Brady winning a SB in SF/LA.

Maybe after the fiasco (losing Brady), BB decides he rather focus on coaching than be the guy in charge of everything.

I agree with your comment 100%. I always said as much as i like BB, Brady is the reason Im a die hard fan. I was always "a fan" But when Brady took over, he became the reason I live and die for this team. If Brady went some place else to finish his career I would follow him to that said team and become a fan just because I idolize TB12. When he retires I may never be a die hard for this team again. He just came and changed New England and made us proud to be a Pat's fan. Im a Brady fan 1st and a Pats fan 2nd.

I'll root for the laundry. I've been doing it since '73. If Brady leaves (and he won't) he'd be dead to me, same way Vinatraitor is.

This is usually the time every offseason when the media speculates on some disharmony between Brady and the Pats. It's like clockwork.

If Brady goes its because the Pats trade him or whatever it may be at the time. If they do that then im following Brady. You can all stick up for Kraft all you want but bottom line, He IS getting F'N cheap. He better pay Brady what he wants before he trys and keep Moss. To me it seems he would think about doing that. Picture them giving Moss a new deal over Brady. It would be the end for the Pats. :bricks:

I think everyone needs to calm down. Paying a guy a ton of money isn't as easy as everyone makes it out to be, and they're going to find a way to get it done. However it's going to have to be on their terms - and it's going to have to fit the pay structure that allows other deals to get done.

Look at the Colts. We've already heard how the GM is going to make Manning the highest paid QB in the league and how gung-ho they were to get it done, but it's been over a month and Manning is still sitting there without a contract with no signs of it happening in the near future.

I hate to say it, but the fact there is no CBA is a bigger deal than people realize - especially when it comes to these larger contracts. In case no one has noticed there's not a lot of them being done right now, and everyone is going to need to be patient before you decide to start looking at the worst case scenarios.

Needless to say let's try and keep this all in perspective. As I recall the last deal he got came out of no where, so let's not let speculation in the media fuel a lot of conversations that are going to lead to comments many of you could end up regret making when this is finally resolved.

All your points are good and valid. We need to calm down. Just a sore subject. :(

I guess all this contract talk is why Tom's sitting out of the OTAs. Oh wait, he's not.

Anyways, I'd rather finish out this contract and sign the last big contract I'd ever get, seeing as he's getting close to that point in his career where retirement is much closer than his rookie season.

I think before you get destroyed by the veterans in here that you go back and review some of the statements regarding that topic. This team spends close to the salary cap each year, and also gives the dollars to the guys they know make the most impact and give them the best chance to win. That's why you saw Wilfork eventually get a deal, and also why you'll see Brady get his - although it may come at the expense of Mankins should it come down to that. Moss over Brady isn't a possibility - they've won with lesser guys so there's no point there in making him a priority.

My feeling is that Brady and Belichick each have equal amount of time left, and they'll both probably leave this team around the same time. So again - be prepared to wait - because it's going to take time, and I honestly believe they'll find a way to get it done.

Patriots better do something and they better do something soon - and stop using the CBA as a bullcrap excuse. Any impartial observer viewing the situation (and not drinking the kool-aid) sees a quarterback who has already got one foot out the door.

Yeah I know there's no team in LA but there are an awful lot of NFL cities much close to LA than Foxboro.

I do feel he will retire as a New England Patriot and have his numer 12 retired. 1st ballot hall of famer for sure. Soon as he is eligible.

I disagree. If you remember the conversations around the time that Brady was last coming up on a new deal, I think there were some similarities. The difference this time around is the uncertain labor situation, and again - this is why I just mentioned that I'm sure there's a reason why we're not seeing many large deals being consumated at this point. As I said, look at the Colts - they already declared they were going to give Manning a record deal - yet there's no deal to date.

So I've read no evidence of Brady insinuating any intention of leaving, other than media guys trying to create that scenario by twisting words. Needless to say again, let's try and calm down before this thread gets any more carried away than it already has.

I can't believe you guys seriously don't think a deal will get done with Brady. I remember there being the same negative attitude when Wilfork wasn't getting his deal earlier in the offseason. A Brady deal will get done. The only reason there is this much speculation is because the Pats don't talk about this stuff in the media. Really, they have created this own monster (though I highly doubt they care very much).

    :yeahthat:

Man, I can't wait until this is finally over. If I hear about him going to California one more time (I have a guy who I work with that's swearing he's going there every single day) I'm going to go insane.

I think you're remembering things that didn't happen. Brady was locked up with 2 years remaining on his current deal last time, so there was nowhere near the level of conversation we are seeing today.
There's also a pretty big pair of "differences" from last time, namely a wife and child that are both based out west - not to mention a $30 million mansion.
I am being perfectly calm, and I am calmly asserting that there is a chance he may not be here next year. Nothing is written in stone either way, but it's a possibility. That's all I am saying.

There's also a possibility that cats and dogs will rain out of the sky tomorrow. Doesn't mean it's going to happen.

    Disable Jersey

    Ok, here's a basic scenario:

I'm on record as expecting Brady back one way or another, because I think the teams will want some way to keep the tag at least for the first year or two of a new CBA, but here's a what if....

    New CBA, without franchise tags.....

Now, would it take 5 seconds, or 0.5 seconds, for the Raiders and/or 49ers to contact Brady's agent with an insane offer in an attempt to upgrade their QB positions?

I never said it wasn't possible. It's certainly within the realm of possibility, but it's still out there. Kraft has said many times how he loves Brady. For all we know, a deal could be in the works right now but we'll never know it because the Pats don't come to the media with that sort of information. As I said before, this is really a monster the organization created on their own.
