Tight end Shuffle: Hartsock, Maneri, Terrence Miller in; Jones, Watson, RB Houston out

Not sure where I said all of those things.
In any event, I cared zero that Maneri didn't have a backup for preseason game 2.
I understand the competition for Hooman concept, but I think that the UDFAs, the Maneris, and the Hartsocks were the best options BB found that were available and willing to come here.
We can name a whole bunch of crappy TEs who you can call veterans but I think the combination of the battle among the UDFAs, plus the scrap heap veterans plus waiting for someone better than those slugs to be cut is arguably a better plan.
I agree that the best options in the last couple of weeks were indeed Manieri and Jones.

My "issue" has nothing to do with decisions made this month. I believe that more of an effort should have been made 2-3 months ago. Perhaps the effort was made, and no one wanted to play for the patriots in a backup role. What does it say about the patriots if we can't sign camp competition other than camp fodder UDFA's?

"The crappy TE's that I call veterans" include ****son and Quarless. I think that they would have provided competition for Hooman, insurance and a possible third TE, if we wanted to keep one. I don't think that this was an unreasonable idea.

glass half empty, Deus.If one has "issues" with Gronk this year, or "issues" with Hooman as a solid backup then there's not much anyone can do besides letting it play out. This constant fret party is tedious however.

Message board + roster moves + level of play = responses

Have we not beat this to death?
Quarless resigned with the team he was #1 TE for.
Why would ****son who is Hooman in a different jersey, come here to compete for a backup role when instead he went to a team where he was the clear #2 and it is a team that had its entire WR corp taken away, so it would a 2 TE formation may be more likely there.
Fred Davis? Ben Hartsock? Jake Ballard? Dallas Clark? Seriously?
Please tell me you arent suggesting we could have gone after Jimmy graham or pay 32 mill for Dennis freaking Pitta?
I'm not sure what you are trying to say here.
Look at your list and tell me who you would have signed.

Yes, we have beaten this to death.

The facts seem to be that Belichick could not secure ANY players who were good enough to compete even for the 3rd TE spot other than UDFA's. I trust Belichick's judgement of players. Who I would sign, given my knowledge, is irrelevant. If that is indeed true, then we need to develop offenses with much less emphasis on TE's. They simply aren't available.

You seem to miss the distinction between 'cant get any' and 'another route such as UDFA is a better way to go based on the quality that is out there, that would be willing to accept the role we offer, and we would be willing to pay what it takes'. They are very different.

As far as your last comment. BINGO that is exactly what he did.

It would appear that BB agreed with us after all and judged Hooman to be an poor depth at 2nd TE.
We will have to see how Wright is used. At 220# I'm not sure he is a TE as much as he is a WR or HBack.
