Thomas fined $5,000 for roughing penalty - Extra Points - Boston.com
Yup - called it. May King Roger's crown be lead thorns.
so ******* ridiculous. He wasnt trying to body slam him, just making a tackle. Although, the call on Wilfork was even worse. That was a text book tackle.
Will the money go to the repairs on the lawn of the bills player that got wrecked?
I want to see an NFL game where the defender doesn't throw the QB down, the whistle isn't blown, and the QB gets away and makes a game-winning throw.
I badly want to see that happen.
Just not in a Patriots game.
Slightly surprised since it was somewhat of a borderline penalty, but not shocked at all. Goodell sends his message to Thomas and the rest of the lague, 'don't slam quarterbacks to the ground' - while also saying it really wasn't all that bad because $5k is nothing as far as fines go.
Yep, Dwight Freeney needs to let a few guys escape so Polian's blood pressure can get back to working level.
They should send a $5000 check to Wilfork and call it even.
This is really getting f'kin stupid now. In ten years the NFL will gradualy become flag football.
There was nothing malicious about that tackle. Give me a break...what are the defenders supposed to do...stop playing? But, it's okay for the QB to keep fighting to get out of their grasp. This is football..geez
I believe that already happened a few years ago to Osi Umenyiora against Vince Young. Umenyiora didn't finish his tackle, and Young threw the game-winning touchdown. He was almost run out of town on a rail, but had he finished the tackle, maybe he would have been called for roughing the passer?
league policy is simple: defenders must hug the quarterback, and then cuddle him gently to the ground.
Was Wilfork fined too?
Remember the '07 SB?
Sack em all, let God sort em out.
What is really bogus is that Thomas gets fined and a Carolina player jumps on McNabb AFTER he is already in teh endzone..and zippo happens...no penalty no fine..NOW that WAS a heck of a lot more malicious...a player down IN theendzone after a play..I don't know who is reviewing plays and fining players, but it's about as fair as the WWF. The NFL leadership is clueless...from AIello to Goodell to any of these band of no nothings. If they were CLOSE to fair, it would be one thing, but they are far far from it.
