Instead of pissing away draft picks on wide receivers every other year, sign every potentially viable wide receiver in the unrestricted free agent market on a discount:
Wes Welker (Franchise Tag)
Brandon Lloyd
Donte Stallworth
Anthony Gonzalez
I would not doubt that Deion Branch will be re-signed by the end of the week...
...and that Stinko is released at the same time.
As far as Stallworth is concerned, I was hoping that he would've been signed after his time in the joint was completed in 2010; better late than never then, though I hope that 2 years older doesn't mean 2 years slower.
I would have preferred that they look at younger talent like Andre Caldwell, Early Doucet, and Legedu Naanee.
As long as we don't bring back Maroney, I'm cool with whoever from 2007 comes back.
Now they need to go Quick or Streeter in the draft if anyone of them are sitting for them in the 3rd or 4th round
Gronk
Welker
Lloyd
Hernandez
Gonzalez (assuming he stays healthy)
Stallworth
Streeter or Quick
Then you got Fells who is good for a 1st down every time he catches the ball averaged 12.1 a catch with Tebow.
So (assuming a contract for Branch) here is where we are:
6 spots for WR, 4 are a lock:
Welker
LLoyd
Edleman (versatility
Slater (versatility and all pro ST)
so for the final 2 spots
Ocho
Branch
Underwood
Stallworth
Gonzalez
5 guys competing for 2 slots.
I am really thinking we showcse Hoyer and go wih 2 QB's on the fial 53.
When i saw the headline I honestly assumed something on patsfans had screwed up and I was back looking at 2007 threads.
....
So, in addition to Stallworth probably making the team, I also wouldn't be surprised to see a round 2-3 pick spent on another WR.
Is Edelman a lock? Brandon Boykin is predicted as a mid 2nd rounder in the draft - he's a better punt returner, actually specialises on defense but plays WR too. I could see them drafting Boykin and getting rid of Edelman to free up a WR slot. We probably get a higher upside player too.
no one is a lock. Slater isn't a wr, if anyone thought he had any chance they would have lined him up at wr during the super bowl when they had nothing there at all.
They are reporting denver wants something the Pats have, wouldn't be surprised if it was Welker they are going to try to get.
So (assuming a contract for Branch) here is where we are:
6 spots for WR, 4 are a lock...
BB on the phone said:I'm thinking of putting the band back together. Maybe you could join us.
Remember how well he played against the Patriots? BB likes to sign players who play well against the Pats (as people keep saying on here!)
Sweet. I guess Osi, Justin, and JP are all in the China Town bus to Boston, then.
I hear you, but he's only got 41 receptions in 3 years since his return. That would seem to be an indicator that his time is coming to an end. Maybe he'll reverse course, though.
