The Official Belichick Post Press Conference Thread

I'd be satisfied if the NFL just said - "we reviewed all the evidence, videotape, forensics, and whatnot, and found no evidence of foul play by a human being. scientific testing gives a plausible explanation why the footballs were underinflated in the first half of the AFC championship game." That's all I want. Don't even care about the apology, the NFL can GFY for all I care as long as they clear our boys at the end of all this.

@FrodoBagginz
"well, we did do the nose...and the hat"

also, BB's pressure press conference has a sort of "Now, go away, or I shall taunt you for a second time!" quality to it. Or at least it makes me laugh to think about it in that light. :)

Of course we are not. We never were.

There are a whole lot of backstabbing liars in the NFL though. And not even on the field. It's disgusting.

Yeah, saw Mangini just got picked up for a job

Actually watched a little bit of ESPN/CNN to see if the tide had turned. CNN was ridiculous and not balanced in their response. Basically, people running off emotion and convinced that BB cheats no matter what is proven or disproven.

I was slightly surprised by Brian Dawkins as he said he'll still wait for to hear from the NFL before comign to a conclusion, but pointed out that people's perception om the press conference really would be a result of how you felt about the team to begin with Patriot fans would obviously see BB as being truthful and doing a great job, some people would make up their own mind when they hear everything laid out and then there will be people who will always be convinced that BB/Brady/Patriots will always be lying/cheating.

I think BB did a good job laying it out there and saying you can do your own evaluation and come to the same conclusion he did admit that their process would cause the ball to appear to have more PSI than it would once equilibrium is reached (and though he didn't say it there are multiple points of equilibrium. Refs Locker and the outside environment).

The NFL still has a boat load of information being kept away from all of us.
  • When did the refs first test and what were the results
  • Do the balls stay in possession of the refs once handed over. what happens in the 2 hours between then getting the ball and the game starts. BB pretty much said those footballs are out of their possession
  • When did the league come down and tell them to check and/or why were 11 ball removed from play and the Patriots had to use a Colt ball.
  • Plus, they have forensic specialists and a huge team conducting an investigation. Why go through all this when they never have in the past? Did they run the same tests the Patriots ran (or are they doing that as we speak)
  • The NFL needs to answer the week 11 response from the colts. If the clots did mention this in week 11, why did they wait until AFCCG to follow up?

The thing that gets me is the ego of RG. He now has egg on his face one way or another. Is he going to feel disrespected by BB/Pats and seek to punish them more or did BB give them a way out. How will they handle the pressure from all the fans/media/other teams demanding blood.

If the Patriots are found not guilty, does anyone in the media apologize? I say the Patriots take names and refuse them any/all access even if it costs them some more (money, not draft picks).

They will still give some lame line about how its the pats responsibility to maintain PSI.
but they cant because that isnt true

Ignoring the fact that some of these really despicable NFL (or self) centered media simply don't believe Belichick (calling someone a liar is pretty big damn deal in my book, but maybe I'm old fashioned)...

So, what possible motive would there be to do this?

I wish it were simple blissful ignorance, but I think the answer is: malicious stupidity.

I didn't get the impression from that conference that they would take it. He stated pretty unequivocally they did nothing wrong. They better bring gloves if they want a fight.

I didn't click the link, but I suspect the mediabots are trying to save face after their very public spanking and praying Goodell to give them an out to save face. I suspect a reprieve is not coming, enjoy watching them continue to try to dig out of this hole.
I beg to differ. The POS commissioner and league office did not stir up this pot of crap to come up with nothing and make him look ridiculous. I feel that the POS will appeal to Kraft to accept punishment for the good of the league like in 2007 and he will accept it. Remember that Goodell does not need facts to issue punishment and he reacts to the noise of the media.

I want this on the back page of the Globe and Herald

Bob Kraft has kind of forfeited his right to be in that picture. Replace him with Revis, Collins and Hightower.

First of all that makes no sense. If the NFL can't come up with proof, they have to exonerate the Pats. And I see no reason why Kraft would desire to take a 'slap on the wrist' because it would basically be an admission of guilt and the Pats did nothing wrong. Why would he want to devalue his own brand?

I feel Kraft has been waiting on the results of the NFL investigation but he has pride as an owner too. If the NFL can't come up with definitive proof, there's no way or reason he should try to save face for Goodell by making his team a scapegate for the NFL's incompetence in handling this matter.

You can't appeal.
Read the end of the article. In the league constitution it is agreed that the Commissioners' word is final when it comes to judgements against a team.
Also, the Patriots, as an organization, can NOT sue the league in the event that those assholes find the Patriots culpable.

-Jamman

Al Davis sued the league repeatedly, and won.

Hope you're right, but things might've changed since that now deceased dinosaur last sued the league.

Make of this what you will:

Teams also contractually assent to not sue the league or one another, meaning the Patriots won’t be filing a lawsuit against Goodell or the NFL. This is a crucial legal distinction from when a player, like Rice or Peterson, faces a controversial punishment and with the help of the NFLPA pursues legal action.

Plus, Al was a wildman whose self-image was NFL renegade. Kraft is not cut from the same cloth.

Belichick won't let him accept it. That's what this press conference was about.

Kraft accepts a punishment for the benefit of the league if they have nothing Belichick will leave and Brady could follow.

Kraft accepting a punishment with no evidence of wrong doing is basically saying he thinks Belichick and Brady were lying

Loved the press conference. Like all here agree Belichick killed it. Little bit of psi increase due to locker room ball rubbing and the weather more than accounts for any asserted psi decrease. I still don't trust Goodell or kraft for that matter in terms of taking a small fine for the NFL to save face, but if I were Belichick I'd say FU to any fine directed at him.

Can't wait to see the Comish's face when he hands over the trophy!

Refer to cameragate.

Agreed, if I were Belichick I'd leave. He's stayed mostly quiet about "spygate" and today you can see what he really thinks about all of it.

The PC was a way of saying no more

Refer to cameragate. League comes first, team comes second.

You're a better man than I.

I want heads on ****ing sticks.
