He's got a head start on the offense (played with Josh at STL). As others have mentioned, he's got fresh legs and would be needed for 10-15 carries per game through February (we hope).
He's on the record as wanting to play for a contender so he's hungry for a ring and a championship would give him a peek at HOF consideration. What do you think would be going through his mind if he's on the field with the Patriots leading in Q4 of a playoff game? He's going to be a supremely motivated player.
I really can't see any downside to this. I think Blount's a bigger loss than people realize and Jackson may the guy best suited to fill Blount's role.
The more I'm getting my bearings around Jackson playing RB here the more I am liking it.Jackson is a banger who can pass block and catch the ball. He was the first Blount replacement I mentioned. It would be for 6 games, max, and he probably would see very limited action, if any, against the Tits. They could follow that up with just a few carries against the Jets, before giving him a bit more work against Miami.
That would allow it to be, basically,
Nothing (Ten)
Almost nothing (NYJ)
Light to medium workload (Miami)
Week off
Full participation (Divisional playoff game)
Full participation (AFCCG)
Week off
Full participation (SB)
He doesn't need to be great. He just needs to be good enough to move the pile a few times a game, and to do the job pass blocking. Anything more can be looked at as an awesome bonus. And he can catch the ball.
When was the last time this guy actually played? Over a year ago?
Assuming his ass isn't a wad of cookie dough from sitting around, he's still on the wrong side of 30 and has very heavy mileage.
It seems like we're scrapping the bottom of the barrel but who knows? Maybe we can squeeze a few good snaps from the guy.
I'd rather give the snaps to Iosefa and see what he can do . . .
Should have been reitred after Woodhead honestly. God I miss that ****er
It's too long since Jackson's played, but you want the guy who's never played? Come on, now.
Tit's run defense is softer than church music. Why not give the youngster a few snaps against them and see how it goes?
So, what's ol' Pierre Thomas doing during this holiday season?

im still hereI DID miss Woodhead, and then I fell in love with Dion.
Because Jackson's likely to be the better option.
