Steven Jackson!

Give him a shot, could be a good rotation with Jackson, White, and Bolden. I like Steven Jackson better than Montee Ball, but I guess we will see

The question is...is that quicker/faster than Blount. I don't think so but not 100% sure.

I'm in the camp that the line hasn't been doing a great job of run blocking this year...
He just need to be a power runner, LB is not given his size

#39 just happens to be available. It's like it was meant to be.

He's a pretty decent pass blocker, right? That alone has me in the "sign him" camp.

Plus #39 is available.

Sigh.
We have finally reached the point where during a game Mosi Tatupu will be paged to come down from the stands and suit up.

Sic Transit Gloria Blount

If he's in shape I'm buying on S Jackson...hell sign him get him in shape start him vs Miami

For their immediate needs, the Patriotsneed a running back who can play right away,
not someone who has been idle the last few months and is out of shape. Their best
bet is Trey Williams, Joey Iosefa, someone cut recently, or steal someone from a
practice squad (if they can this late in the year).

Ilikeitalot...

He's lost 3-4 steps. I absolutely love SJax, but he looked *rough* the last few times i saw him. I'm not sure he's better than Bolden right now but i'd absolutely give him a shot.

Maybe, but at least he'd be there if Bolden or White were injured.

The Pats currently have only TWO healthy RBs on the active roster.

That's a worse situation than when the Pats dressed only six OLs for three straight games.

There are no injured RBs who are close to returning, on the roster.

I think he is already better than Bolden.

The team doesn't even need a serious impact from Jackson. All he needs to do is provide enough production to keep defenses somewhat honest and respect play action every now and then.

Kind of like when the Bruins traded for the ancient Jacques Plante.

Props to Deus who called for this when LB went on IR.

Kind of like when the Bruins traded for the ancient Jacques Plante.
....and played pretty well for them. What was he like in his late 40s?

Kind of like when the Bruins traded for the ancient Jacques Plante.

Or when they signed the ancient Paul Coffey or Brian Leetch... you know what, maybe that's better forgotten.

....and played pretty well for them. What was he like in his late 40s?

He was 43 or 44. They did give up Eddie Johnston and a pick that became Ian Turnbull for him, though, so I think the Leafs actually got the better of the deal in the long-run.

Jackson is a banger who can pass block and catch the ball. He's got a head start on the offense (played with Josh at STL). As others have mentioned, he's got fresh legs and would be needed for 10-15 carries per game through February (we hope).

He's on the record as wanting to play for a contender so he's hungry for a ring and a championship would give him a peek at HOF consideration. What do you think would be going through his mind if he's on the field with the Patriots leading in Q4 of a playoff game? He's going to be a supremely motivated player.

I really can't see any downside to this. I think Blount's a bigger loss than people realize and Jackson may the guy best suited to fill Blount's role.
