We had no chance last night because, frankly, we did not have the preperation in place and Shanahan did.
Too many changes took place for the Patriots well the Broncos trotted in here 1-1 (losing the opener on the road against an NFC team and using a scaled down playbook against a bad Kansas City Chief football team). Then Shanahan looks over the matchups and spots Javon Walker against Ellis Hobbs and Javon Walker against Sanders and Samuel both clear Bronco advatages.
Now the Patriots trot out there running game. Dillon gets injured and Maroney got stuffed in the 2nd qtr with the Patriots driving - game scoreless. At this point, I knew the game was lost for the Patriots - psychologically. Denver used their running game very effectively and it set up their passing game to find the matchups mentioned above.
The body language of the players and fans told the story. So did Belichick grabbing the front of his sweatshirt knowing he did not have the tools to make this work tonight. Now the Broncos look like Super Bowl contenders while we look like a mediocre 9 and 7 team that will win a bad division and be one and done in the playoffs (or at best get whipped again in Mile High Stadium in January).
The season has started for the Patriots now that they get their tails whipped soundly by the Broncos again. God we are pathetic against the Broncos.
