It annoys me every time I see that replay from the Colts game. Course it didn't help that I looked at it again about 10 times this morning.

When they showed the replay just before the Pats went for it on 4th down near the end of the game.

The replay clearly shows Faulk made the first down. He does double clutch the ball but the replay from the front shows he had possesion before getting pushed back. And he was a 1/4 to a 1/2 yard beyond the 30.

When they showed that replay yesterday I about lost it.

I remember when the play happened. The referee who was in the middle of the field, who had complete view of what happened with the ball was marking it between the 30 and 31, where it should have been.

He was then overuled by the referee who was watching Faulks back, a guy who had no view whatsoever of when Faulk gained possession.

And then either Nantz or Sims incorrectly states while they where showing the play that that play had come down to a replay.

NO IT DID NOT!!!! It could not be challenged cause the Pats had not timeouts. And the booth could not review because even though the play ended within the two minute warning, the play started before the two minute warning, making it inelligible for a booth review.

Had that play been reviewed the Pats would have won.

i Hate it that i see it every time i turn madden 11 on and breese is saying sometimes it doesnt payoff to gamble. and that being the only play they show of the Pats.
I Also get annoyed with the Ray Lewis commercial. It seems everyone is crapping on the pats.
Either way Breese is overrated he should have been number 1 on the list not T.O. The guy cant play without his RBs.
And Ray Lewis is a whiney little girl after every Pats game.

I don't care if Faulk had the 1st down.

When you need 3 yds for a 1st down, YOU DO NOT RUN A 3-1/8th YD PATTERN.

Why in the world would you leave the spot of the ball in the hands of the zebras, IN INDY?
    Are you fu#&ing kidding me?

Terrible play-call on 3rd down, and terrible play-call on 4th down.

I don't know whether he had the first down or not. Like you, I've looked at that tape many times and I can see it either way, meaning "the ruling on the field stands."

The bottom line is that the Pats either called the wrong play or they called the right play and Faulk was in the wrong place, because you don't put a game like that on the line and then leave yourself a few inches of breathing room.

We have nothing about which to complain.

Next time TV shows this play, watch: On that play, Brady, panicky all game, stares down Faulk the whole time. If Brady even glances center/left, he will see Wes Welker open with plenty of separation on one of Welker's favorite routes. Pitch and catch. Game over. No controversy. BB a genius etc.

I guess I look at this thru "rose colored who cares" glasses. This team is different than last year's. It was a lousy desision to go to Faulk, who ran a lousy route. Welker was open enough for Brady to hit him, and he made a poor desision.

I can tell you I think we are better off looking at this year's team than analyzing last year's missed opportunities.

p.s. for those who forget, indy played press that play

it was surprising, because indy never plays press, which is why the pattern was so close to the spot

btw, its clearly a 1st down

but hey, we should not have been in that situation...u can never trust a zebra when the game is on the line

I thought he had it yes but i remember the reason it was marked short was because he bobbled it and didnt have possesion until he stepped forward away from the marker

I've said that a million times as well; Welker is wide open with a linebacker (I think) trailing him by at least a yard and a half. He could have caught, ran 10 more yards without being touched, and then curled up in a ball....game. over.

Yeah, he definitely got the first down. I don't even think about that game anymore. Unfortunately, many believe that's the game that turned the season around negatively. I tend to agree.

He bobbled it yes, but as I stated the replay clearly showed he had regained possesion while still past the 30.

He definitely made it. The real scandal was the call by the refs not by the coach. Unfortunately the douches in the press (esp. the local press) decided to rant on and on about the coach instead of the refs.

That Faulk catch was a first down (forward progress).

The Helmet Catch never should've happened because Eli was sacked (while Giants o-line committed multiple egregious penalties).

Watson's play on Bailey was a touchback (and no one will convince me otherwise).

Doesn't matter what we think or what we know because they weren't called that way and fair or not we have to deal with it. And the best remedy is focusing on today. It's a new season and we're already seeing things fall in our favor a bit. Let's hope it keeps getting better.

No. The scandal was the terrible play-calls & execution on 3rd down (almost an INT) and on 4th down.
