Considering the amount of money the team threw at Light, the amount (risk adjusted) by which they differ from Solder seems small by comparison.
They can't practice until the 4th anyway correct? Or is that just current players signing new contracts?
Smart move by Solder. He's not going to get cut, and he's not going to start, so there's not all that much incentive for him to get into camp on any particular day.
It's 'smart' for him in a strictly self-centered strategic viewpoint but it does not exactly endear himself to BB and Dante, his bosses for the next few years. He also forgoes the team bonding that is another intangible initially forged in summer camp where players spend mucho time together.
Not sure why it's ever a good idea for the new guy to piss off the boss.
Bad start for Solder to dig himself a hole.

If Belichick is so petty as to hold it against a rookie who's trying to get guaranteed money in his contract when the players around him have already gotten said money guaranteed, I'd suggest that BB get into therapy.
The other rookies we've signed have NOT gotten all of their contracts guaranteed.
This is what's happening with a lot of the first rounders under the new CBA.
and what does that have to do with the Patriots and their rookies?
Monkey see monkey do?
