Basically just looking at the players we've lost and who could be possible replacements. Not looking at any trades, just the current roster, this years draft, next years draft, and free agency. But you guys can do trades if you want.

Willie McGinest - Carlos Dunlap, Julius Peppers
Rodney Harrison - Pat Chung
Tedy Bruschi - Jerod Mayo
Ty Law - Darius Butler, Patrick Peterson, Joe Haden
Mike Vrabel - Jason Pierre-Paul, Austen Lane, Greg Romeus
Richard Seymour - Jared Odrick, Cameron Heyward
Ted Johnson - Rolando McClain, Karlos Dansby
Corey Dillon - Jonathan Dwyer, Ryan Mathews, Anthony Dixon

Some players that might need replacements soon:

Kevin Faulk - C.J. Spiller, Dexter McCluster, Noel Devine, Reggie Bush
Randy Moss - Julio Jones, A.J. Green, Michael Floyd, Jonathan Baldwin

Well, there's my take. I'm probably missing some players, but eh.

Willie Mac / Dunlap
Tedy Bruschi/ Koa Misi
Richard Seymour/ Cory Wooten
Corey Dillon/ Jonathan Dwyer
Ted Johnson/ Kirk Morrison RFA Raiders
Rodney Harrison/ Darren Sharper
Troy Brown/ Golden Tate
Kevin Faulk/ Leon Washington

I feel dirty participating in this!

Funny thread

you mention players but not their experience at the start of the run

tedy - draft day is very different then in 2001
same for vrabel and will mc.

so you have to add

Players/replacements [yrs you think they will project to get the experience]

Ted Johnson - Rolando McClain, Karlos Dansby

Is this one of those Sesame Street "One of these things is not like the other" segments? If so, I found it.

Roman Phifer was much more important during those years and would be more applicable to the way the game is played today. Never understood why people (certainly not just you) look back at Ted Johnson and want to see that type of player again. As I recall, Belichick wasn't completely sold on TJ early on, and TJ really didn't find his "groove" until 2004.

Nice post. Though I think only Heyward can come close to replacing Seymour. Odrick's ceiling is probably Ty Warren.

Nice post, makes you realize just how far off we really are. I think we can accumulate the talent needed in the next two drafts (7 picks in the first 2 rounds), but as someone pointed out they will need the experience too. So, we might be three years away.
