Looking at the offense #s around a third of the plays #44 was in there at FB. If you re-watch the game note how much Evans played better as a lead blocker. He was outstanding in that role. Coincidence that the run game improved? (Yes, I know the Donk's D blows chunks)

BB had a right to be excited about Guyton's FR/Int (however they score it), he was rushing inside, saw the ball in the air, pushed the blocker to the side and made the grab picking up a couple more yards in the process. A thing of beauty from being aware of the ball to fighting through the block to corralling the ball to tucking it away and gaining positive ground. The kid is coming on strong.

Pierre Woods only had 11 reps, but he made his presence felt in limited action.

On another LB note: Vince Redd was one of the black jerseys in today's practice. That's twice now if I'm not mistaken. :D

You made a comment a few weeks back in another thread essentially getting at the fact that LB may not be an overwhelming need come draft time in April. I'm starting to agree more and more. Mayo is starting and faring pretty well, Guyton is getting more and more snaps each week, Redd is winning practice player of the week, Crable had a good preseason and is understandably inactive for games, and Woods is playing well in a limited role. I don't know anything about Bo Ruud, but with AD signed through 2011, the future of our LB corp looks pretty nice.

Good point - Reiss posted the #s one time, but LoMo's production was better when running behind Evans.

And yes, the Broncos D blows, but I'm cautiously optimistic that the running game's sudden emergence wasn't all b/c of their suckiness, but in part due to Neal's return, and the 2TE formations.

With Richardson and Wilhite getting playing time you have to wonder what the deal is with Wheatley not making the game day roster most weeks.

Belichick commented on this on EEI last Monday, and he basically said that Wilhite has been practicing as a slot defender and Wheatley on the outside. With Hobbs playing at a high level, and O'Neal playing well aside from the Chargers game, the outside corner position is in good shape. Whereas with the nickel and dime packages, and with Lewis Sanders banged up, Wilhite sees the field more often.

Aw shucks, y'all must be thinking of some other box of rocks' linebacker analysis. :D
