Rice has now gone from scum bag to evil, brutish villain
FFS, that's ridiculous. When the two games was announced, I thought there must be some mitigating circumstances (she attacked him, he was trying to restrain her and they slipped... something like that) and I still thought it was too little.
But no, it looks like he just threw a haymaker at her and that was that. He could've easily killed her, with the force that he hit her, and her hitting the rail and the floor on the way down. Total scumbag, I have no idea how he isn't suspended indefinitely.
I understand why all of you are upset with the gangsta thug actions of that repugnant, revoltingly brutal moron, Rice...but why all the vitriol and anger for the greatest man in any sport's history...the man who singlehandedly destroyed the image of the evil Patriots empire, the man who, against all odds went after the Saints in federal court and got summarily dismissed and laughed at by the ignorant, unqualified federal judge? The man who showed compassion and restraint when the face of the New York Jets was caught in a revolting, disgusting display of open deviance displayed on the internet for ANY Person or child to access? The man who slapped the hands of the same face of the Jets when he was caught making obscene middle finger gestures toward people at a public event AND at NFL sanctioned regular season Games? the man who quietly defused the OPEN ORGANIZED TRIPPING DURING AN NFL GAME by agreeing that the only person responsible was a low level gofer, absolving this same FACE OF A FRANCHISE for any responsibility in the organized SIDELINE WALL OF JET PLAYERS deliberately interfering with a player on the opponent's team in the field of play?
why would you people ever think Goodell hasn't done everything in his power in re of this Rice incident. I think the owners should give him ANOTHER 50 million dollar raise. He's showing every person of influence in any field of endeavor how it's really done!!! Yes, this man from the humble roots of Silver Spoon St,forged and tested in that hard scrabble world of U.S. Senator's son battling extreme adversity, this man deserves nothing but our praise and our undying allegiance!
You people are the mob, you know nothing about true adversity, nothing about what kind of man it takes to tackle the really tough decisions affecting the lives of 32 billionaires. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for what you've said about Mr. Goodell this day.
According to the domestic complaint obtained Friday by The Baltimore Sun, Suggs' longtime girlfriend, Candace Williams, claimed the All-Pro punched her in the neck and dragged her alongside a speeding car with their two children in the vehicle. The woman said she suffered "severe road rash" as a result of the incident.
Suggs does not face criminal charges stemming from the September incident.
In December 2009, Williams alleged Suggs held her down on the floor, poured bleach on her and their son and kicked her in the face, breaking her nose, according to The Sun. Williams also claimed physical abuse dating to the start of their relationship in 2007.
For those who think the prosecutor should have went forward with charges based on the video, you don't understand the law and how this really works.
Assuming that the prosecutor went forward, which they could.
Rice's wife would be advised by their (the Rice's) lawyer to take the 5th and float the notion of "mutual combatants" to the prosecutor which means that she's taking the 5th and that she's indicating she was throwing punches first (unlikely she was but this is how she would proceed to get him off the hook) and he was defending himself.
If she does this, the prosecutor can still proceed but a good lawyer would introduce enough doubt weaken the case enough to prevent any likely conviction difficult.
The prosecutor's only option is then grant his wife immunity from any crime related to this and force her to testify. Granting immunity takes away the 5th amendment since you can't incriminate yourself if you've got immunity. Granting immunity rarely happens though because the courts see this as a family matter and given his lawyer's ability to defend, delay, and weaken the case, it makes conviction unlikely so they tend to drop it. Rice's lawyer has also indicated by now that they plan on making this a "mutual combatant" case as well so the prosecutor knows even if she speaks, she's going to say she was throwing punches first.
I'm 100% sure that if she wanted to proceed with the case and were a cooperating witness, the prosecutor would go after him with a vengeance. The fact that she won't cooperate, makes the case unwinnable in the eyes of the prosecutor.
I know some are going to say "all you have to do is take a look at the video" but it isn't that easy in reality and prosecutors don't take cases to court that are difficult to win when the victim wants charges dropped as well. I've seen this happen a lot... it sucks but she has to be willing to cooperate
That folks is why domestic violence often ends up with someone severely injured or dead.
Yeah, released from Baltimore and no one will pick him up.He doesn't have a job anymore....
