Does the frequent rollout plays by romo remind anyone of denver offense of shanahan - a team we have a lot of trouble stopping for some weird reason . I cant say about the other plays but romo seems to frequently roll out left and right to make throws.

    Re: Question on Cowboys offense.

Eway could roll out in both directions, as well as scramble and the Snake did well rolling left.

Although I have not studied th NFC or Cowboys, I don't recall Romo being very good rolling to his left.

I think of Romo as a right handed mirror image of Jake the Snake. Both were much better throwing on the run and their accuracy was marginal to average in the pocket.

    #12 Jersey

A huge key for the Pats

Can Thomas cover Whitten 1 on 1? If he can, then Thomas should be able to cover Clark of Indy 1 on 1 as well and that would be a huge boost for the Pats defense in both game.

    Re: Question on Cowboys offense.

I would put rodney on whitten and then use thomas along with a cb on TO as he is big or to cover a RB.

against clark and whitten what we need is a safety as they are lighter but gates type(265lb) is some on who you put thomas on. we never had the size/speed to switch depending on TE who are closer to WR due to slow speed of our LB compared to a WR.

You guys are confusing a QB being able to roll and throw with someone who needs to do it as part of his game. Romo scrambles to buy time and punish the D for ignoring his ability to use his legs. Your LBs which love to drop in coverage will have some decisions to make regarding that scramble ability.

    Re: Question on Cowboys offense.

VY is a running QB. McNabb is a much more fair comparison but he doesn't have the weapons we do. Every team knows, take Westbrook out of the game and you can beat the Eagles.

Regarding your LBs, I should have said in the games I have seen, which is admittedly limited, they drop in coverage quite a bit.

Romo actually has better numbers in the pocket than outside, as that's when the (to quote the Tuna) "Rodeo Cowboy" stuff happens and he doesn't plant his feet etc when making running throws.

    Re: Question on Cowboys offense.

There is no question that we have had problems with this in recent years. But with the 2007 Patriots LBs seem to be considerably faster as a group (that's an odd thing to say about an aging unit), and they are better able to contain a mobile QB. I think this problem disappeared during the offseason.

The reason we have 'struggled' with the Broncos is a scheme matchup issue.
The Broncos are first and foremost a running team.
BB believes in taking away the run first.
Shanahan believes that the best way to attack our defensive scheme is to throw on first down.
When you run a 2gap system, and are playing a running oriented team, your biggest exposure is first down passing.
    This is nothing shocking.
The Broncos have had SOME success against our D because they throw against us 1st down, but run enough against everyone else on first down to make BB want to take that away.

The advantage they gain is that we are not equipped to rush the passer strongly from our 2 gap base on 1st down, the disadvantage they create is that if they do not complete the first down pass, they play into our hands.

It has been all about their successful running game creating those opportunites, not that they throw rollout passes.
