If the Jets care that much, I presume he also projects to guard?
Yes. I treat every college OC and OG as vying for one of the three interior slots for NE. I've little doubt Callaghan and Ryan think the same.

Mario Harvey contact

Marshall ILB Mario Harvey- not sure he fits need/system, but as a Herd/Pats fan, I'd love to see it. Notice the 40 time.

From NFLDraftScout

03/28/11 - Marshall Pro day: When Mario Harvey found out he was not among the invitees to last month’s NFL Scouting Combine, Marshall’s pro day emerged as this fiery linebacker’s key chance to show NFL teams what Marshall fans have raved about for ages. Of the 12 Marshall players and one small-schooler who worked out for NFL personnel on March 16, it was Harvey who made the most of his opportunity. The 5-foot-10 7/8, 250-pound fireplug registered a stirring 4.46 40-yard dash and put on a strong positional workout for onlookers, including a New England Patriots scout who took particular interest in the Thundering Herd defender. Harvey also logged a 32-inch vertical and 9-5 broad jump, with a 4.19-second short shuttle and 7.13 three-cone drill result.

Unless a player is shorter/lighter than usual (in which case he projects to center) or can't shotgun snap (guard, obviously), that's usually the case.

Yeah. I think he popped up on my radar sometime in December. He's likely to make some team very happy with their 6th/7th round pick.

I'd missed that, good catch. I was watching Vinny Curry every chance I got and Harvey was always fun to watch, I'd love to see back to back Marshall defenders to NE if folks can get their CBA working for a 2012 draft.

Fireplugs are fun to watch -- especially on D.

Schiechl's Pro Day Results:

Height: 6'2 and 2/8"
Weight: 252

40: 4.65
20: 2.68
10: 1.66

Vertical: 35"
Bench: 38
Broad: 10' 05"

20 Shuttle: 4.5
3 Cone: 7.18

D2 - All time Sack Leader with 46.
D2 : 4th all time in tackles for loss with 70.5

I think he'd make a helluva late round pick/UDFA.

By my latest count, BB's will need to trade down enough to pick up at least 7 7th rounders just to cover the UDFA binkies on this board. So much for "quality over quantity this time".

Damned SKIPPY!!

Who said he was a binkie?? I just said the numbers looked damn good.

The Scouts Notebook
* Marshall LB Mario Harvey didn’t impress me. Very productive college player, but I didn’t see NFL ability. Posted good numbers at his Pro Day, but that athleticism doesn’t show up on tape.

Nice find guys.

As I'm quite confident Brother Bruinz will attest: Marc Schiechl was MY find. :D

http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/13/701144-flankers-outside-linebackers-page9.html

Have y'all been hearing the craziness coming out'f the Colorado School of Mines Pro Day??

Nose Tackle Blaine Sumner beat Stephen Paea's record on the Bench Reps with 52...

And here's a new name for potential Flankers: A bit short ~ 6.28 ~ for my tastes, but as fresh legs to just possibly usher Tully Cain down the road, he's interesting, to say the LEAST:

Marc Schiechl ~ Colorado Mines ~ 6.3/255

Information on Marc Schiechl is thin, but we do know this much:

1 ~ The Kirwan Explosion Index suggests that anyone who scores a 70 or more on aggregate Vertical Jump, Bench Reps, and Broad Jump has, at the very least, the raw skills to be a powerfull, powerfull Force attacking the Line of Scrimmage and the QuarterBack. And Schliechl, with 38 Bench Reps, a 35 Vertical, and a 10 Broad Jump, scored an OUTRAGEOUS 83!!

2 ~ Yes, but can he do it on the field?? Well, it's Division II, but he can't help that, now can he? And Jerry Rice was Division II, of course...How does 46 Sacks in 4 years, to set an all time D2 record, sound??

IDK. Maybe it was this part:

So, because I think he'd be a good player as a late round pick, he automatically is a binkie??? :wha:

V - Official Pre-Draft visit; visited team facilities/hosted by team in area

C - Position Coach or Coordinator contact
MC - Team has spoken to player or agent or had on-Campus visit; miscellaneous contact
APD - Team official has attended Pro-Day

The TCR implies that the Patriots are very very interested in them, and there's a very good chance we'll draft them. Don't take it for granted though.

Another quiet week after I was expecting things to get silly. Hey ho. The one thing of note this week was Dale Fink's bio on the Sacred Heart website - which lists his favourite team as the Colts :bricks:

This belongs here under Rumoured interest:

NFL draft rumors | National Football Post

Auburn running back Mario Fannin is generating a lot of interest as a potential later round, third-down type back. Teams love his ability to help out in blitz pick-up and catch the football out of the backfield. Hearing he's getting long looks from the Patriots, Redskins, Steelers, Dolphins and Bengals.
