This is exactly what I would have asked and exactly what I want to hear.

“Tell me everything will be OK …â€
Posted by: John Tomase

With the Blue Jays in town to face the Red Sox for the last three days, there was no shortage of Patriots talk in the visiting clubhouse. Toronto third base coach Brian Butterfield, a native of Orono, Maine, is one of the most maniacal Pats fans on earth, never missing a game with a home theater setup that includes two TVs for as much football as possible.

Butterfield, like most Patriots fans, was concerned after the team lost David Givens, Willie McGinest and Adam Vinatieri to free agency. So when he ran into Patriots player personnel czar Scott Pioli recently, he had but one question.

“I walked right up to him and said, ‘Please tell me everything’s going to be OK,’†Butterfield pleaded with manic intensity. “He laughed just like you’re laughing now.â€

Pioli’s response?

“Everything’s going to be OK,†he assured Butterfield. “Every year at this time me and Bill (Belichick) are a couple of (expletives). We’ll be fine.â€

Said Butterfield: “That was all I needed o hear. That’s good enough for me.â€

Silly me, I'd a thunk he'd a said "We're fraked!" Go figure.

You mean he didn't say: "BB and I have really lost it and we don't know what the hell we are doing any more".

That is what it was like on this board up to this week.

That would have been funnier.
