Peter King thinks Orton may be the next Tom Brady

This is a good point and I was thinking something along those lines.

Josh McDaniel...is it possible he MADE Brady? And now that he's gone, Brady has regressed. Meanwhile McDaniel's latest protege is playing lights out.

Maybe Orton hadn't reached his "ceiling" before because he didn't have a knowledge QB coach like McDaniel (I know he's the head coach but I'm sure he points out flaws in his mechanics if he sees them).

Besides, even if Orton is "closer to his ceiling"...it looks like a PRETTY HIGH ceiling!! He outplayed Brady by a mile. What was he 80% passing?
You're taking the piss right?

Start by going outside ;)

Much better advice than all of the things I was going to post for him:D

Different "techniques" and such.

PJ would've had a field day.

So is Orton suddenly a "franchise" QB?

With the new definition of "franchise" meaning putting up 17 points?

you live in a town where the "star franchise two time super bowl winner" QB has made a LIVING putting up 17 points and winning games, and you ask this about orton..thats funny

Yeah, Orton is a placeholder who hits everything he throws and is 5-0. Brady is GOAT who can't hit moss if his life depended on it.

Maybe Brady USED to be good, but doesn't seem like it anymore. Right now, Orton is playing lights out, way ahead of Brady. It's not even debateable. Yeah, placeholder. Guy who won't "lose" the game, as opposed to Brady, guy who will overthrow Moss and miss a wide open Welker. A guy who WILL lose the game.

I hope Brady gets his act together, but right now it's not even close and only a homer wouldn't see that, let alone think it's stupid.

I had to read that twice to see if you were serious. Duh, yes so far this year after just 5 games Orton has performed better than Brady. So now Brady as a quarterback is defined as one who loses games, can't hit passes and misses wide open receivers. So he throws up one stinker and a couple sub par games and he no longer seems like he's any good. Yep, he's a has been. Those handful of games have proven that all right. Brilliant observation. Then on the other hand Orton has a good streak going and now he's proven he's the superior quarterback. The problem with King and some of you guys is that you are so easily influenced by the last few games that you assume the rest of the year will follow suite. Last year Buffalo was the team to beat at this time of year and Evans was the vogue choice for the rising star. Stop jumping to conclusions I guess is what I'm saying.

The truth is Brady has to fail a heck of a lot more than this before anyone can say he's no good any more and Orton needs to put an actual career together before he can be escorted into the Hall of fame....or even carry Brady's jock strap for that matter.

I think Brady has earned a few more games. The rewards of waiting for him to regain most of his ability is to great not to give him that time.

I don't disagree with that. What my origijnal point was was that is it possible that McDaniel is an incredible QB coach? He's taken an average QB in Orton and turned him into a guy who plays like brady USED to play. And without McDaniel, Brady is apparently Clark Kent after having been Superman before.

Now will Brady revert to Superman form? I hope so. Is it more than McDaniel, ie his knee? Probably.

But you have to wonder, what exactly transformed ORton from joe mediocrity to an incredibly accurate and poised passer?

Woahhhh Peter woahhh woahh woahhh woahhh woah woah waohhh woahhhhhhhhhhhhhh easy there

The problem with King's comparison is that he forgets that Brady was a somewhat obscure player that had never started a game before taking over for a long-time franchise QB in 2001. Orton has had years of starting experience and took over for a QB that never really took Denver anywhere despite his hype. He's also forgetting that Brady took his team to a championship amid some legendary performances (Snow Bowl). Orton is currently undefeated 5 games into the season. The comparison doesn't work well in the first place mainly because he's comparing them based upon their situations, which aren't all that similar. He at least could've waited past week 5 of the season to do it.

I would think King should have said more like Peyton Manning not Brady...Orton was given his weapons...ala Manning....Brady didn't have weapons but a bunch of no-names to work with on offense.

Yea yea - Another "Next Tom Brady" - Tell Orton to get in line.

I'm putting good money on Kyle Orton NOT collecting 3 Super Bowl rings.

Well time will tell I guess. If Orton is indeed to maintain the status of "an incredibly poised an accurate passer" then he will have to prove himself over a much longer period of time.

Chances are Orton will come back down to earth a bit and Brady will get off the ground again. Maybe it's just the homer in me but I think Brady will return to an elite quarterback status and Orton will still be wanting to someday be one himself.

Right now he is better hands down.

I'm sure that would change. Let's not forget he was also better than Peyton Manning for one game last year as well.
