In addition to signing Simon and Barner to 53.

"Defensive end John Simon (No. 55), running back Kenjon Barner (No. 38) and safety David Jones (No. 39) were in attendance. The team announced the signing of the three players on the same day."

Patrick Chung, Trey Flowers return to Patriots practice

I'm surprised we didn't add a linebacker to replace Bentley.

I don't know anything about Jones. Could he play some linebacker? This team especially the linebackers are light on speed, maybe it makes sense to play safeties at LB so the Pats have a better chance of being able to cover in space from the LB position.

Look out! Here comes tomorrow.

Regards,
Chris

In addition to signing Simon and Barner. They'll need to cut or IR someone.

Jones was signed to the practice squad. Billingsley was released from it.

Jones was signed to the practice squad. Jack Billingsley was released to make room for him there.

However I like David Jones college tape.

--sorry wrong thread

If Chung isn’t cleared for team drills and this is a practice to focus on run blocking and run defense, then it makes sense that they’d want somebody who plays the run more like a “real” safety than current #3 safety Cyrus Jones.

Thought David jones played hockey. Great to have him though

Scout team defense against the #1s on offense probably includes Cyrus as a DB in some role. Probably not safety, though.
