I apologize for starting a thread for this but:

did they implement the playoff OT rules into the reg. season?

meaning an OT game does not end on a FG even in the reg. season anymore?
 
I dont think they did.
 
Yes, I just watched the end of Vikings-Jags and both teams got a possession.

That made me think too, whether deferring would be a good option.

The Vikings got the ball first and scored a FG. Then the Jags get the ball, which made me realize what an advantage it COULD be to defer. You get the ball knowing that every down is 4 down territory, at least until you get into FG range.
 
As someone relatively new to the game (see my introduction in new members area), I like the new OT. I haven't seen any stats but I would guess whoever won the toss in the old rules, won the game most of the time.

I stand to be corrected though! :)
