Didn't look at the site, but Eli Manning did lead the greatest clutch drive in NFL history.

A Bill Belichick defense simply needed to prevent the opposing offense from driving 83 yards down the field and scoring a TD to preserve the perfect 19-0 season and in turn become the undisputed greatest team in NFL history.

Eli Manning then did the impossible. Yes, go ahead and throw out the luck, in the grasp, helmet catch, etc. but nothing will ever surpass that drive. The composure he showed during it, especially considering the historic implications, was out of this world.

Sadly enough, Brady's drive just before that one would have been recognized as one of, if not the most clutch drive (again, consdiering the implications and the Giants defense that game) in NFL history had the Giants final drive ended short of the end-zone.

It's incredible how all the Pats/Brady haters completely overlook that fact. Whenever I point that out to somebody trying to knock Brady as not being clutch and using that game as their premise, I generally get a deer in the headlights look, as if that drive never happened.

thats why defense wins championships. everyone talks about how the gretest offense. in NFL history. laid a egg. but it was the defense. that give up the game.

BB has to rebuild this D if they want to win a SB again.

It really was an amazing drive. Actually, I think it's the greatest drive ever by Tom Brady.

Yet, that is the nature of sports. Tom Brady having one of the clutchest drives in SB history, Wes Welker having one of the best WR performances in SB history, both pretty much forgotten. So many sports fans are so black & white when it comes to memory. If you won, every aspect of your team is given extra credit. If you lose, pretty much all the positives are forgotten.

I hate that game, so much. So many things were eliminated..

    19-0 / Greatest team of all-time
SB #4 - Clinch being the greatest dynasty of all-time
TB cementing himself as the greatest/most cluch of all-time
    Moss, Welker, Seau's first ring
A final ring for Brown, Bruschi, Harrison & Vrabel

God damn it, it still kills me. The most amazing season of all-time and now I can't watch a single game from that season without getting upset.

I've still felt the day that season ended we are going to see another run at 19-0. Maybe not next year, but this team should be close to that 2007 team in 2011.

    2011 team
Chung, Butler, Vollmer, Brace, Edelman in third years.
    A 1st, and 3 2nd rounders in their 2nd years.
A stud top 10 pick (Oakland) in his rookie year.
Probably last year of Brady to Moss.

I know its lame looking that far ahead, but if Belichick hits on the draft, the 2011 Pats team will be studs on both sides of the ball.

    I really hope so.

The only thing that would ever make me feel better about that game is completing the perfect season.

This deserves a post of its own. Anyone have a pair to make this a thread? :bricks:

    No.

I will start a post saying that SB 36 was played 8 years ago today though!
