Here are the real number values. Please note that this does NOT account for the moving up of a player from outside the top 51.
Bruschi's cap hit was 1.9 Million in salary, 600K in signing bonus amortization and 107K in work out bonuses. His retiring leaves just the 707K in bonuses as a cap hit. So, a gross savings of 1.9 million.
Gross, of course. Per Miguel, the "Top 51" rule brings Wilhite's second-year salary ($385K) onto the cap.
