Re: O'Connell and Hodel released

Congratulations to Ingram.

O'Connell never made sense, and now that bizarre chapter is closed.

Re: O'Connell and Hodel released

Room for Seward and Peppers now?

... sorry, bad joke I know

Re: O'Connell and Hodel released

I guess it is time to start up a new dynasty... people that weren't even around for the SB run are moving on...

The Pats are now down to 75, with Bruschi included among those 75 since he has not yet been placed on Reserve/Retired.

*Note: I do not believe the Pats have officially announced McKenzie to IR, meaning that the Pats are at 76. But both his and Bruschi's moves are anticipated to go down by 4 PM tomorrow.

Quick question, How does Bruschi's retirement affects the cap space ?

We take a cap hit but he frees up about 1.5mil I think. check Miguels site. Patscap.com

I believe I read it's 1.5 million.

Re: O'Connell and Hodel released

Wow.

Congratulations to Ingram.

But still, I can't believe that they just released O'Connell.

I'm surprised that they cut a #3 draft pick so quickly but it was

pretty obvious that O'Connell had regressed very badly from his

rookie year. Also, I thought that Hoyer looked better than O'Connell.

I was figuring that if both long snappers were equal, Ingram would get it given his youth and most likely lower salary.

I wonder what punishment if any the Patriots will dish out to the scout who recommended KOC?

Will he be outright fired?

Someone has to take the blame for this. It should be like that scene in "The Untouchables" where Al Capone uses a baseball bat to instill discipline.

Maybe it's the same guy who recommended TFB.

I suspect the players Hoyer played against were of lower calibre than those KOC played against... I am gonna miss that : KOC.

Here are the real number values. Please note that this does NOT account for the moving up of a player from outside the top 51.

Bruschi's cap hit was 1.9 Million in salary, 600K in signing bonus amortization and 107K in work out bonuses. His retiring leaves just the 707K in bonuses as a cap hit. So, a gross savings of 1.9 million.

And somehow, somewhere BriZ is shedding a tear right now...
