This is so sad, R.I.P little one. My deepest condolences to the family!

I was just reading the update. I am nauseated and crying. Our daughter is 21-months-old and just the thought of losing her is unbearable. The heartache and devastation that Doug, his wife and their entire family must be experiencing is incomprehensible.

RIP, sweet Hallie. ❤️

Oh no.

I’m speechless.

I’d feel awful even if I wasn’t a father of three…but I am.

Hits close.

Thoughts and prayers to the Kyeds.

Absolutely horrible news. I'm going to unpin and I'll eventually lock this thread to let it drop down, and I'll move it out later on so that it's not a reminder in the event he comes through there.

Obviously, to everyone who supported Doug and his family, I'm sure it meant the world. Definitely thinking about Doug and his wife and their daughter...my heart absolutely breaks for them. :(

Such a sweet, beautiful little one taken too soon. As the father of two daughters myself, I cannot even fathom what Doug and his family are going through right now.

Just the worst news ever. I’m heartbroken for the entire Kyed family. My thoughts are with Doug and his family. Just heartbreaking, she seemed like a beautiful little girl who fought the best she could.

I see that people have been helping the family on gofundme, and I think it’s a nice gesture, so I followed suit. It’s the least I could do for such a sweet little girl who’s life is as cut way too short.

Childhood cancer is so hard on everyone. The horror is almost magnified by the fact that childhood AML has a very high cure rate. So the initial reaction is “yes this is bad, but at least we got a great chance to grasp on to”. But the cure rate is not 100%, even in the best places. And when it doesn’t work out, it feels horribly unfair all over again. And it is. May the Kyeds find peace in the difficult days ahead.

This is really heartbreaking to hear.

One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.

After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.

This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."

He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."

So sorry for the whole family. Some things are not natural and standing over the grave of your child is one of them....

There is a support group for those who have lost a child, the Compassionate Friends The Compassionate Friends Non-Profit Organization for Grief
that may be helpful when they are ready.

Another tear falls in a garden of stone,
Another day passes and they're all alone.
The world gets older but he/she is still two,
And we dream of things they'll never do.
