If they dont sign him today hes gone.

Pats arent taken that 13 mil dead cap hit while also paying him 25 mil.

Wouldn't that $13M dead cap hit regardless of whether Brady signs a deal? And, if so, isn't that a sunk cost that should not be considered going forward?

They have to take the cap hit but if he’s signed by 4pm on Wednesday they can distribute it for multiple seasons instead of taking a 13 mil hit for 2020. At least that’s my understanding.

The cap hit is now half in 2020 and half in 2021. If Brady isn't here on TH, the $6.75M of 2021 cap money would hit the 2020 books.

For me, now that the new agreement is in effect, this is much less important. The team would just need to defer $6.75M more of 2020 monies than they would have if Brady stayed. This can happen with the new deal, and the absence of the 30% rule. The reality is that the patriots could always defer much more than they do.

Yeah, but he didn't so that's moot. The $13M is a sunk cost and should not factor into any rational decision making going forward.
