That's the reason the defense seemed to step up so much.

Quick scores mean that the other offense abandons the run and becomes one dimensional. The Jets were actually running it pretty well until they gave it up.

If the pats even have a defense which symies them, then it will be more of a dog fight.

That's not really supported by the Jets game data. I think that the defense has played pretty well, lately, in the beginning of games when other teams were not affected by being behind.

The first 7 rushes by the Jets had only one run of over 4 yards: gains of 4,3,0,2,14,3,and 4 yards, and by the next time they had the ball the Jets were down 17-0.

So in a close game the Jets ran 7 times for 30 yards (4.3 ypc), then from way behind they ran 24 times for 122 yards (5.1 ypc).

They kept running since Sanchez sucks so bad that by running the ball they were at least not putting points up on the board for the Patriots!
