guy walks in a diner, sits down, looks at three dozen eggs waiting to be cracked and says...

this omelet sucks...

the cook turns around and says..where the hell are YOU from???

guy replies..why,Patsfans.com of course...why do you ask?...

Classic!:rocker:

Hernandez is our #3 receiver.

They should carry four TE's this year. Remember, wham is the new fullback. I like Lee Smith a lot, and think he will be a solid contributor. However, the guy could be what Kyle Brady should have been and still won't replace Crump. A ten plus year vet who took his game from receiving to blocking, remained at an extremely high level, and is the definition of professional will never be usurped by a rookie. Especially on the Patriots, and especially when he was one of the keys to the team getting it's soul back.

All seem close to being 'locks,' barring injuries of course.

If you're trying to free up roster spaces, I would guess 1-2 at the ST position, 1 more at OL, + the possibility of 1 at RB. Beyond that, there's always the possibility of having 6 instead of 7 at DL again, and taking 1 away from the safety position (with the addition of Dowling, who may be able to play emergency safety, in a worse case scenario).

That could offset the additions at QB (1), TE (1), and even the outside possibility of an additional WR (which isn't too likely, but you never know I guess)

--Regardless, Belichick will certainly figure it all out in TC. At this point, the ONLY person who'd I assume to be gone is Slater, but even then I wouldn't bet on it.

I certainly wouldn't put it past BB to keep 4 TE's and/or 5 RB's. With the addition of an extra QB (3), that means that the position could be only ONE above last yr on offense, as you'd take (1) away from the OL. Having only one more 'extra' roster spot on offense is nothing, when you consider an extra player at QB, TE, AND continuing to keep 5 at RB (if needed.)

CANNON quite possibly could be our PUP guy but w/ an option to make him active b4 that date when he cannot return

Yes, sure. Cannon may very well start the yr on PUP, not only for his health related issues and to give him more time, but also for roster purposes.

The time period you are referring to is anywhere between the weeks of #6 and #9, with a 3 week window to make them active. So, in theory, Cannon may not even be taken off PUP until week 8 or 9, then they still have a couple/few weeks to decide if he's going to part of the active roster, or simply put or IR for the rest of the year.

Of course, it'll all depend on how he responds to his tx, and if he is able to overcome this challenge in his life in time to be a factor of sorts (or even a backup, which is more likely) this year. I am guessing that he'll be started on PUP, then put on the 53 man about halfway through the season, where he'll likely be an inactive backup, but he'll still be able to provide insurance and take part of practices, game plans, and be able to learn something too. I'm 'hoping' of course that he'll still be able to make an impact somehow this season, even if he has to start on PUP. I am guessing that he starts on PUP for roster purposes too, as there should be an injury or two on the OL by then (hopefully not of course).

I'm not 100% certain that it's all about the KO rule being changed, as I am about the team being built with both good players AND good ST abilities combined. I can guarantee you that we took less 'specialty' ST positions up last yr than the year before (2009), and I would strongly expect this yr to be even less than last yr.

In layman's terms, YES--I certainly expect someone like Slater to be halfway out the door, if not all the way. Specifically him. There are other guys who can play the role, and also provide valuable game reps on the 53/45.

I can see BB keeping 4 TEs, especially with Hernz being a receiving TE!

If Smith is like having another Tackle, I can't see BB letting him go!

If Smith can do both, then it is Matt Katula who will go, not Crumpler.
I agree. I agree that I have to type more for it to be plus 10 characters. ;)

This is stupid. Kick-offs were moved back to their original position and you think that means that Slater is gone?

What about the other 4 special teams units besides kick-offs. All 4 of which Slater is a part of?

While Slater may be gone, why don't we wait until Williams actually beats him out. As for Ras-I, Butler and Wilhite should be hearing footsteps. Same with Sergio Brown and Ross Ventrone.

I loved having Alge on the team. His impact on Gronk and AHern was immeasurable. I really hope he's around for another year. A young team like the Pats can use an older great human to help mold the youngins. I would love to send him out with a ring, too. The man deserves it.

First and formost college blocking TE against NFL DE is a big step.
so letting crumpler go and you are 1 injure away from feilding Lee and Herdz as your only TE`s making tough on OL and brady .If lee cannot be effective blocking and takes time
what the heck would we do?.

Not only that, but who better to help this kid learn the pro ropes than Alge? Plus, it's never a bad idea to give a rookie competition. You never want them to feel like they've got the job automatically.

If all four TE's play so well in camp and preseason that you don't want to let any of them go, there are a number of ways to keep the extra TE:

- One less OL

- Only 4 RBs (though this extra spot might be used on a 3rd QB)

- One less WR. Hern takes a lot of the slot reps anyway. If Wes is healthy (or if one of the RBs shows a talent for punt returning), Edelman may find himself without a role.

- One less ST specialist (Either Katula if Lee can long snap, or Slater/White if one of the rooks can fill his slot).

Plenty of options, IF Lee makes that decision necessary (and Crumpler is healthy by the cutdown day).

I want all 4 TE's
