He's an idiot and what he says has no bearing on my life. However, as other posters have said, the topic is a good one.
My response to a Ravens fan in my wife's office who was giving me sh*t the other day:
"Yeah, it was a tough loss. And we Pats fans are conditioned to success, so in that sense it is even harder. We won our division as usual, went 12-4, and got to our 5th straight AFC Championship game, and to us it is a lost season, a disappointment. After this 15 year run we've been on, that's a tough position to be in. Of course, every other fan of every other team would trade places with us in a heartbeat. Every other one. Including you."
Making two straight AFCCGs was the crowning achievement of the Jets in the past 50 years ago. It happened 5+ years ago and they're still clinging to it. They lost both, but that's beside the point.
The Ravens won in the SB in 2012, but haven't even been back to an AFCCG since. The Colts last won an AFCCG in 2009, after which they were humiliated in the SB. Haven't been back since, their high-water mark since then is that they managed to smear the Pats' organization after we steamrolled them in one of the most humiliating AFCCGs ever.
Meanwhile the Pats have made 5 straight AFCCGs and it's a letdown because that translated to a SB win last year, but not this year. Perspective is nice, although the squandered opportunities absolutely hurt more when every one of them represents a chance for Brady to definitively, once and for all, end the GOAT debate.
