Kraft in Talks to Build Casino in Foxboro

Lets see if Krafty can beat down Mumbles Menino who wants Suffolk Downs to be the local casino site...

sorry Bob,but this is the big-boy league.....and you 'aint it:bricks:

FWIW: The commonwealth has licensed 3 casinos to be built in MA, one is most probably going to be at Suffolks (or near Boston), one will probably be out west, near the 91/84 interchange, which leaves one more, and that is the big question here.

I think (and hope) the town of Foxboro will defeat the ballot. A casino is not a boon to the economy local or statewide, (and the jury is out on how much of a benefit it is to the state as far as education and infrastructure), because it creates no new goods, and many of the jobs are specialized. I mean, how many elite card dealers could a small town produce?

Foxboro and Boston are in the same zone, if you will for only one casino location. Kraft moved into the Greater Boston area zone to avoid a conflict with the Indian tribe which has an option on the SE MA region until July, 2012

THe other two are southeast MA and Western MA...

Smart money move for Kraft if he can pull it off. Then, when Wynn tries to move the Casino to St. Louis, Kraft can shaft him by holding him to the lease.

Profit!

Im curious as to why Sheldon Adelson, a Needham MA resident and local boy isnt making a play here.....heck he only owns the Venetian - Palazzo complex in Vegas and is head of Las Vegas Sands Corp....

Adelson lives in Vegas.

isnt there a casino very close to Heinz Field in Pittsburgh?
I honestly don't know the answer to that question, but I think the better question is "do the Rooney's have any interest in any casino near Heinz Field?" I gotta think the answer to that is no.
Kraft is a smart businessman. Im sure this "land lease" has been privately vetted with the NFL. Notice the silence from the league on this matter.
What do you expect them to do? Pubicly chastise one of their own owners? Bob Kraft will get a very quiet phone call from a very quiet commissioner who will very quietly put the kibosh on the whole thing.
Like him or not, Wynn runs a very good operation. Encore and Wynn in Las Vegas are top flight facilities - lots of security inside and hookers are quickly removed from the casino and bar areas. Encore and Wynn are great hotels and conference facilities, used by more and more businesses for their annual user groups, trade shows, national sales meetings, etc.
Be that as it may, the NFL wants absolutely nothing to do with gambling.
