Thank you. I will keep this in my scrapbook of congratulatory messages.
You'd make a great pop warner coach or a little league coach. And don't forget to bring the orange slices and Capri Suns.
It's a messageboard for crying out loud!
Hyperbole - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I know this is a message board intended for people to spout their unabashed opinions (as I am doing now), but in this one man's humble opinion the hyperbole and knee jerk reactions thrown around on this board turn Patsfans.com into a morass of ******ed commentary.
Does this mean we're not doomed?
I hope so, because I don't know if we are doomed because Brace may be lost for the season, or if we are doomed because we wasted a draft pick on him.
Things change pretty fast around here.
I sympathize with a lot of what you wrote in your post, but keep in mind that this isn't exactly the Algonquin Round Table-- it's an internet sports messageboard.
It's amazing how you have all synchronized your menstrual cycles to happen at the same time. Congatulations to you all.
Exactly. This is a football message board for goodness sake; we are supposed to be opinionated and judgmental. It is supposed to be fun.
Would you prefer carefully measured and articulated and politically correct arguments meant to not offend or draw hasty conclusions (or any conclusions). Bah. Go listen to some candidates for school committee if you like that stuff.
As far as the Algonquin round table I am partial to Dorothy Parker:
Bring on the premature misguided player assessments! I want to hear more stuff like: "Butler is overrated; McGowan and Sander have regressed; Wilhite is the toastmaster; Chung cannot cover; the Patriots are doomed"

For example:
3 weeks ago, Brace was a fat ass B-U-S-T, now after one good bull-rush on a passing down against the Rams the fate of our D-line hangs in the balance of his MRI
Based on one game, 2nd year rookie Darius Butler has gone from a potential 1A corner to a defensive liability
After 3 preseason games in 2010, one of our favorite whipping boys in 2008 and 2009, Terrence Wheatley suddenly "gets it"
In one thread I read, Eric Alexander, a special teams ace since 2006, was described as simply not a good football player
Mike Wright a solid DE SUCKS because he's not Richard Seymour. TBC SUCKS because he's not the second coming of Demarcus Ware. Its not ok to be good at your position as part of an 11 man defense or offense, you're either awesome, or you suck.
Conversely, once a player has reached superstar status (i.e. Brady, Wilfork) it seems they are beyond reproach.
IMO this message board would be a whole lot better if people would refrain from extreme black and white opinions based on one game or one play.
Instead of Eric Alexander is a terrible football player, how about Eric Alexander is a serviceable special teams player, but not someone I'd like to see getting reps at ILB because...(insert thoughtful comment supporting your argument here based on your observations).
Just one man's opinion.
Well, to be honest with you, Crime...I have a strong sense that we're going to be a very soft 12-4 or so, this year: An efficient team that plays hard every week, with an Offense that is so powerfull that we beat up on most of the teams we meet, during the regular season...But I think this year's team is fatally flawed, and that that will very likely manifest itself, come the PlayOffs.
Up The Middle, our Defense is FRIGHTENING: Wilfork, Mayo, Spikes, Chung, and Merriweather.
And our Corners are looking potentially AWESOME.

But I believe that the few teams with high caliber O Lines can KILL us, once we reach the playoffs: While we have a bevy of Defensive Ends who can rush the Passer pretty well, it seems to me that NONE of them have what it takes, at this point, to hold up against the Run...which scares the CRAP out'f me.
And of course this problem ~ as I perceive it ~ is DRAMATICALLY exacerbated by a crop of OLBs who're not particularly established in this system. Cain is the only exception, and he is NOT noted for his Edge Setting skills.
In short, we are weak against the Run at RDE, LDE, ROLB, AND LOLB.
Unless that changes by the end of the season ~ mind you: I don't think that's out of the question ~ then I see us having a VERY hard time beating the Colts, the Ravens, or the Fish, come January.

Is there ANY cause for hope, in my view? A SCRAP.
For one thing, Cunningham and Ninkovich both seem to possess the Fusion of Strength and Speed requisite to succeed at their positions. They COULD reach a point, in time for the playoffs, where they've taken sufficient command of their talents to play effectively, at which point they could at least buttress what I expect to be a D Line with weak Rush Edges...And as for the Line, itself, it's not out of the question that Deaderick could be a BIG part of the Run Defense, by year's end. I've got a REALLY good feeling about this guy.
Totally off topic, but this is the most dramatic post I've ever seen on a message board. Which is a compliment
