Time to start thinking about what are the most important things the Patriots can do to win Monday night.

    1. No Patriot turnovers
    2. Limit the Jets running game to 3ypc or under.
    3. Get in Sanchez face and don't let him throw from outside the tackle box. He seems to be his best after the play breaks down and he can move outside, and be a playground QB.
    4. Score 1 more point than the Jets.

Video: Reiss' key matchup - New England Patriots Blog - ESPN Boston
Mike Reiss says the key matchup for the Patriots on Monday night will be Jets tight end Dustin Keller, who torched New England last time they played with 7 catches, 115 yards and 1 TD.

Mike Reiss has his three keys to a Patriots win Monday night against the Jets:

    -- A strong run defense.
-- A balanced Tom Brady offense
-- An even matchup on special teams

In my opinion there is only 1 key to the game and that is to win.

When the game starts throw everything out the window. It's gonna be a battle. Just have to fight.

In my opinion the key to this game is pressure on sanches... if sanches has a good solid game this will be a very tough contest. But if we can really make his life hard he more so than most QB's is prone to making a key turnover. It just so happens this year they have been able to overcome these instances.

    1. Offense plays well
    2. Defense plays well
    3. Coaches coach well
    4. Fans are loud
    5. Limit turnovers/mistakes
    6. Force mistakes
    7. Hit Welker when he's open
    8. Hit Welker when he's double teamed
    9. If Welker is triple teamed, take a time out and figure out how to get the ball to Welker

Following a rich tradition of NFL wide receiver divas, Santonio Holmes seems to think he is the key to the game.

On offense: I'd like to see Brady go through his reads a bit quicker and just get the ball out to the first open dude he sees--a more "Manning"-like style of play. In week 2, pass plays seemed to take forever and a day to develop. Hit those receivers on some quick, clean timing routes, and some opportunities may open up to really burn the Jets when they're blitzing with DBs.

On defense: Get consistent pressure on Sanchez. It probably goes without saying, but the passing game is by far the one area in which the Jets are most prone to critical, game-breaking mistakes. I think that if Wright and Pryor continue to be out, Patricia should dig deep and dial up some creative blitzes--anything to push that pocket.

In general, the Pats need greater precision overall. Passing, route-running, zone assignments, everything. The margin for error will be thinner than normal, and I expect a tight game.

A "Manning-like" style of play? Jesus christ...

I don't know about you, but I'd take what the guy's been doing the last few weeks.

Whoever wins the turnover battle wins this game.

LOL. Last week, Brady put up a perfect passer rating while Manning threw 4 picks. Yet you want him to play more "Manning-like" this week.

I wouldn't complain if Sanchez had one of those Manning-like 4-pick games complete with a bunch of Sanchezfaces afterwards, complete with a hissy-fit where he throws down some photos in disgust.

Okay, I really just wanted another excuse to post this:

That's par for the course I suppose. Holmes is a good receiver and I wouldn't mind if he were ours but look at the following.

    Rec Yds Avg TD
    Holmes 32 491 15.3 4

    Branch 46 545 11.8 4

Deion's numbers are surprisingly close or better on the season. Yet I couldn't imagine him spouting off on himself like he were impossible to cover.

Do you guys expect us to go to a shotgun / no huddle?

I think it would be a great way to start, with 2 tight ends, Woodhead, 2 WRs and go through all of the different ways we can line those guys up while not allowing the Jets to substitute.

This is not a game where I fear the opposing offense, so I don't worry about our offense playing a fast break type attack

I dont know if the Pats will start the game in no huddle, but I could definitely see them using it at some points in the game to try and keep the Jets defense from substituting

We only will go to shotgun/no huddle if Brady can't identify the coverages or has trouble doing so (e.g., the Cleveland game).

I think we are going to start a RB and go right to the run game, and hopefully it will open up the passing game. Then we'll mix in a little Woodhead.
